10 upcoming web series to watch out for in June 2021

With another month coming around the corner, OTT platforms are set to have yet another bunch of freshly brewed content waiting for its premiere. June is set with the release of exclusive content from brand-new titles to renewed shows, across various genres and platforms, all ready to stream.

Here’s a list of 10 web series that are set to release across the month of June 2021: 

Kim’s Convenience Season 5

Available on: Netflix

Cast: Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Jean Yoon, Andrea Bang, Simu Liu, Andrew Phung, and Nicole Power

The super-hit Canadian comedy web series, Kim’s Convenience comes to an end with its fifth and last season. The comedy follows the shenanigans of a Korean-Canadian family-run convenience shop in Toronto, both inside and outside the business. The fifth instalment of the comedy web series will feature the members of the family dealing with customers, each other and the evolving world around them.

The Family Man Season 2

The Family Guy is a highly-rated web series set in India that follows a middle-class man who works as an intelligence officer with the Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell (TASC), a fictitious section of the National Investigation Agency. The first season chronicles an investigation into a possible terrorist attack, as well as a slightly tumultuous family life.

Feel Good Season 2

Feel Good is a British comedy-drama web series that explores George and Mae’s romance as it develops in contemporary London. When George discovers Mae is a recovering drug user, he urges her to attend a Narcotics Anonymous meeting. George struggles to notify friends and family about her connection with Mae as the series unfolds, much to Mae’s chagrin. Netflix has renewed the series for a second and final season, which will conclude the pair’s narrative.

Loki

The mercurial villain Loki, Thor’s brother and god of mischief, reprises his position in Marvel Studios’ ‘Loki’, a new series set after the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Loki is developed as a mini web series and will consist of six episodes. It is the third instalment and the third television series of Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series is produced by Marvel Studios and will be networked by Disney+.

Lupin Part 2

This French thriller web series follows a modern-day thief named Arsène Lupin, who is modeled after Maurice Leblanc’s legendary “gentleman burglar”. The web series’ first five episodes, which aired on January 8, attracted 70 million people, making it a huge success. The remaining five episodes will be included in Part 2, as part of the first season.

Sunflower

Sunflower is a ZEE5 original web series that is a crime-thriller comedy. The plot centres on a murder case set in Mumbai’s “Sunflower” middle-class housing estate. Sonu, a simpleton citizen, is sucked into a murder investigation and becomes the prime suspect.

Black Summer Season 2

This zombie-thriller web series is based on ‘The Walking Dead’, set in the same universe as “Z Nation”. The story revolves around Rose who has been reunited with her daughter, but now she must safeguard her in a terrible environment. There’s also the matter of Lance and whether or not he’ll rejoin his original group or join forces with another group of survivors. In the end, the upcoming season will have plenty of zombie action.

Elite Season 4

‘Elite’ features a group of teens who deal with class divisions that lead to murder, all within their school, Las Encinas. The season 4, with its new cast, is set to encounter the regulars that seem to lead to relationships being jeopardized, rekindled, and many that may come to an end.

‘Elite Week’ starts with a new series of Elite short stories that will feature untold stories about some of the characters in the series. Starting from June 14, this short story series will be released on the streamer every day until Season 4 premieres.

The Naked Director Season 2

This Japanese web series, based on Nobuhiro Motohashi’s novel “Zenra Kantoku Muranishi Toru Den,” follows Toru Muranishi’s strange and dramatic life, which is packed with enormous dreams as well as spectacular disappointments in his endeavor to flip Japan’s porn business on its head. The show, which has been renewed for a second season, will follow the bursting of the Japanese bubble and the subsequent economic slump, which coincides with Muranishi’s demise.

Ray

The anthology web series ‘Ray’ is based on the short stories of renowned director Satyajit Ray. It will have four short dramatic stories about love, desire, betrayal, and truth, all tied together by Ray’s imaginative writing. The first story is called ‘Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa’, while the second is ‘Forget Me Not’. ‘Bahrupiya’ is the third story, while ‘Spotlight’ is the fourth.
