10 best shows coming to Netflix: January 2023

The first month of 2023 arrives with Netflix shows that are packed with drama, comedy, and a step into the world of crime.

Netflix is set to start 2023 with a bang. The new arrivals include a number of crime dramas and thrillers. 

Additionally, ‘Ginny & Georgia’ and ‘Vikings: Valhalla’ will make a comeback with their second seasons. The sequel series to the popular sitcom ‘That 70s Show’ will also be released this month.

Here are the top 10 shows coming to Netflix in January 2023:

1. Kaleidoscope

Cast: Giancarlo Esposito, Paz Vega, Rufus Sewell, Tati Gabrielle

‘Kaleidoscope’ is an anthology series that follows a group of thieves over a span of 25 years. They come together for their most significant theft yet; they plan to break an unbreakable vault.

The group will go up against some of the most powerful people in the world, but each must keep looking over their shoulder.

The episodes of the show can be viewed in any order of your choice.

2. Lady Voyeur

Cast: Débora Nascimento, Emanuelle Araùjo, Ângelo Rodrigues, Nikolas Antunes

Miranda is a talented, voyeuristic hacker. She becomes a part of a dangerous investigation involving her sex worker neighbor when her neighbor goes out of town.

Miranda’s life changes completely the day she meets the man of her dreams, but is he the man she believes him to be?

3. The Lying Life of Adults

Cast: Giordana Marengo, Valeria Golino, Alessandro Preziosi, Pina Turco

Giovanna’s father thinks she is turning ugly with each passing day, looking more and more like his monster of a sister, Vittoria.

Giovanna meets her aunt, who plans to turn her into an adult, to find out what is happening to her and perhaps to discover what she truly is. 

The Italian show is based on Elena Ferrante’s novel of the same name.

4. Madoff: The Monster of Wall Street

‘Madoff: The Monster of Wall Street’ explores the largest Ponzi scheme in history, Bernie Madoff’s global Ponzi scheme, worth $64 billion-dollar.

This four-part documentary series also follows Madoff’s rise to become one of the most influential power brokers on Wall Street.

5. Ginny & Georgia season 2

Cast: Brianne Howey, Antonia Gentry, Diesel La Torraca

The new season will see Ginny trying to come to terms with the fact that her mother, Georgia, is a killer. Ginny has to accept that her mother killed her stepfather to protect her.

At the same time, Georgia will have to figure out a way to move on in life. However, it gets harder to do so with her past coming back to haunt her.

6. Woman of the Dead

Cast: Anna Maria Mühe, Felix Klare, Yousef Sweid, Andrea Wenzl

Blum, the owner of a funeral home, loses her husband and the father of her two children in an accident. Her life turns upside down when she discovers that her husband’s death was not an accident but a murder.

As she sets out to get revenge, she exposes her community’s darkest secrets and, in the process, becomes a target.

The Austrian show has been adapted from Bernhard Aichner’s novel of the same name.

7. Vikings: Valhalla season 2

Cast: Sam Corlett, Frida Gustavsson, Leo Suter 

‘Vikings: Valhalla’ is back with another season full of adventures involving Leif Eriksson, Freydis Eriksdotter, and Harald Sigurdsson. 

Carrying their broken dreams, the heroes find themselves fugitives in Scandinavia. After the fall of Kattegat, they must rebuild their legacy, no matter what it takes.

8. The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House

Cast: Nana Mori, Natsuki Deguchi

A 16-year-old Kiyo comes to Kyoto to pursue her dream of becoming a maiko, but her cooking skills get her hired as a makanai, a cook, instead.

Kiyo’s friend, Sumire, on the other hand, becomes a beautiful and famous maiko. The two friends live together while chasing their own passions.

Release date: 12 January

9. That 90s Show

Cast: Callie Haverda, Debra Jo Rupp, Kurtwood Smith

The sequel series to ‘That 70s Show’ is here with the story of a new generation. 

The daughter of Eric and Donna Forman, Leia, is visiting her grandparents for the summer. She befriends Point Place kids there, but not without Red setting some ground rules. 

While Kitty is warm and welcoming, Red is firm that his rules be followed under his roof.

10. Lockwood & Co.

Cast: Ruby Stokes, Cameron Chapman, Ali Hadji-Heshmati

Three teenage ghost-hunters fight deadly spirits in the dark nights of London to unveil a mystery that requires them to risk everything. Lockwood & Co. is a startup founded by two teenage boys who are joined by a psychically gifted girl. 

The show is based on book series of the same name by Jonathan Stroud.
