Who is Chris Bianco? Everything you need to know about the chef from ‘Chef’s Table: Pizza’?

James Beard Award Winner Chris Bianco is making waves after starring in Netflix’s ‘Chef’s Table: Pizza’. The show in its first episode chronicles Bianco’s journey of becoming the Yoda of pizzas. You can stream the show now on Netflix.

Chris Bianco is the owner of Pizzeria Bianco, a popular and notable pizza restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona. Magazines such as Bon Appétit, and Vogue have rated the restaurant’s pizza as the best pizza in the United States.

Bianco grew up in Ossining, New York. As a child, he had Asthama, which forced him to stay indoors. This saw him helping his mother and grandmother cook.

At the age of 13, Bianco began working at a local pizzeria called, ‘Aldo’s Pizza’. Soon, he moved to Arizona and began selling Mozarella he learned from Mike’s Deli. That was until he found an opportunity to make pizza at the back of a grocery store.

The Formation & Success Of Pizzeria Bianco

After realizing the potential of the pizza he made, Bianco started taking the job seriously. This saw him opening Pizzeria Bianco in 1994 at a Town & Country Shopping Center in Phoenix. He later moved the restaurant to 623 East Adams Street.

Bianco’s philosophy to figure out the right ingredients for the pizza made his creations special. Being a small establishment, with a maximum seating capacity of 42, there are often times people had to wait in line to taste Bianco’s pizza.

The success of Pizzeria Bianco saw the place receiving a perfect Zagat score of 29 in 2000. Chris Bianco, on the other hand, went on to win the James Beard Foundation Award for best Southwest Chef in 2003.

In an interview with NY Times, Bianco stated that there is no mystery to his Pizza. It’s all about the balance.
