Netflix’s film ‘The White Tiger’ brings the powerhouse of talent, Adarsh Gourav on screen. Gourav is playing the lead role of Balram Halwai and the film is set to release on January 22.
The real ‘White Tiger’
About two months ago Netflix dropped the official trailer of The White Tiger and the movie buffs got excited seeing two brilliant actors — Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Rajkummar Rao, coming together to share screen space.
However, who also stole the show and left the audience curious with his effortless acting was Adarsh Gourav.
Growing up and entering the film industry
Gourav hails from Jamshedpur and is trained in classical Hindustani music. Before entering the acting world, the alumnus of The Drama School Mumbai was a musician and the lead vocalist of the rock band, Oak Island.
Adarsh has been acting for more than 10 years and got his big break in Karan Johar’s ‘My Name is Khan’ as young Rizwan Khan. Some of his notable works in movies also include Madly (2016), Rukh (2017), Mom (2017) and he also appeared in Hindi web-series like Die Trying (2018), Leila (2019), and Hostel Daze (2019).
Adarsh Gourav shared about how he started his acting career and said:
“When I was in ninth standard, during a stage show somebody saw me and asked whether I am interested in acting. From there I started auditioning for ads and films.”
Playing The White Tiger
His character in The White Tiger, Balram, is a nobody who rises from poverty, class divide, and corruption to become a successful entrepreneur.
Balram’s relationships with the rich couple he works for, and the dark humour that comes along as the movie progresses is what gives this character its true colour and shape.
Despite the battles of life, Balram grows and finds light freedom and individuality, truly symbolizing the ‘white tiger’.
