Tribhanga: Tedhi Medhi Crazy is a dysfunctional family drama film which will premiere on Netflix on January 15.
Its story revolves around three generations of women of the same family and how their lives change after a tragedy strikes. The name of the movie is derived from an Odissi dance pose which is imperfect yet beautiful, much like the lives of the three central characters.
Tribhanga has been written and directed by veteran actress Renuka Shahane. Besides offering a heartwarming story, it also boasts of a talented cast.
Here’s the main cast of Tribhanga:
Kajol as Anuradha Apte
In Tribhanga, Kajol plays the role of Anu, an established actress and Odissi dancer. Anu is a self-made woman and a single mother. Unlike the relationship she shares with her own daughter, Anu’s relationship with her mother is strained and marked by hatred. It is when her mother falls into a coma that Anu is made to reflect on their dynamic and the future of their family.
Tribhanga will be Kajol’s digital debut. Speaking about her character, the actress said:
“We need to embrace these imperfections and live on our own terms, just the way Nayan, Anu, and Masha do in this film. My character is outspoken and opinionated much like how the audience knows me, yet is completely different. As a mother, I can vouch that there are challenges that women face daily as the smallest of things we do affect our children. Motherhood is a minefield of emotions captured extremely well by Renuka. I am very excited for the audience to see this film and hope it will resonate with people of all ages.”
Tanvi Azmi as Nayantara Apte
Azmi is seen as Nayan, a prolific Marathi litterateur and Anu’s mother. Nayan is in talks with a friend to get her biography written, but plans change when she slips into coma.
Mithila Palkar as Masha
Palkar plays the role of Kajol’s daughter in Tribhanga. Masha is described as someone who is completely balanced, who favours harmony and avoids conflicts.
Palkar previously played the lead role in the hit Netflix web series Little Things.
Kunal Roy Kapur as Milan
Kapur stars as Milan, a videographer who Nayan narrates her life story to. Despite being a brilliant writer in her prime, Nayan is unable to write her autobiography due to arthritis and approaches Milan. When she is hospitalized, Milan turns to Anu to understand her side of the story.
Vaibhav Tatwawaadi as Robindro
Tatwawaadi plays Anu’s brother. A religious man, Robindro visits the hospital when Nayan slips into coma. He is shown as a drastically different person compared to Anu.
Besides these actors, Tribhanga also stars Manav Gohil, Kanwaljeet Singh, Shweta Mehendale and Nishank Verma.
