Who is Wilhand Trickfoot? The Legend of Vox Machina character explained

Wilhand Trickfoot is Pike’s great-great-grandfather and a kind old man who has a close attachment to Pike and Grog Strongjaw.

When Pike, Scanlan, and Grog find themselves still on Tal’Dorei and with Grog in a significantly weakened state after destroying Craven Edge, Pike has the good sense to travel to her great-great-grandfather’s place because she believes he can help.

They knock on her “pop-pop’s” door and he is overjoyed to see Pike and Grog again, although he expresses worry at Grog’s physical state.

He creates a pill to help get Grog back up to speed and it does completely get rid of the corruption within him.

A kind and gentle face

When Grog talks about his past, he says that Wilhand is the reason he changed his ways. He was part of the Herd of Storms, Goliath Barbarians who would raid villages and steal all their loot while killing the people in it.

Grog was a young brute who liked nothing more than killing and destroying, but something changed within him when he got a glimpse of Wilhand. It was a raid just like any other but when Grog saw the fear in Wilhand’s eyes, he began questioning his herd’s actions.

Grog helps the elderly gnome get to safety during the raid

His cousin Zanror catches him slipping and goes to kill Wilhand but Grog knocks him out and helps Wilhand escape. His uncle Kevdak, the head of the tribe, finds out what Grog did and banishes him from the herd after beating him to a pulp.

Wilhand returns to Grog’s broken body with his great-great-granddaughter, Pike, who heals Grog as they take him in and give him a home, explaining why Grog and Pike are such great friends.
