Loki is shifting between time in episode 1 of Loki season 2 and with some help, figures out a way to put an end to it. He needs to be pruned at a very specific moment and an unknown individual ends up doing it for him.
Following the death of He Who Remains, the timestream is flung into chaos as countless branches spring out. Sylvie sends Loki back to the TVA, but he finds himself in a timeline where Mobius and B-15 do not recognize him.
While he’s trying to escape them, he disappears and reappears in the same location before realizing that he is traveling through time. He finds Mobius from the present and tells him about his issue, for which Mobius says he should get checked out.
Collaborative efforts
Mobius takes Loki to Ouroborous or O.B., and thanks to a simultaneous conversation with him in the past and present, O.B. figures out that Loki is time-slipping and how he can fix it.
He creates a device to pull Loki’s aura from the timestream itself and it involves putting both of their lives at risk. Mobius has to connect the aura extractor and fire it at the Temporal Loom while Loki prunes himself at the exact moment when it is fired.
There is a very short window of success, and Loki is sent across time close to that moment. He walks around the TVA looking for a pruning stick while people are panicking and running away, and he comes across an elevator that Sylvie is climbing out of.
He is suddenly pruned by someone behind him returns to his own time and stops time-slipping.
A helping hand
The Temporal Loom becomes increasingly unstable as the number of branches keeps increasing, and O.B. says that they need to scale the Loom’s capacity or else they will all perish.
Miss Minutes and Ravonna arrive at the TVA to take over and Miss Minutes locks everyone out of the system while Ravonna interrogates Victor Timely.
Loki and Sylvie search the TVA for Victor and that is when Loki himself comes across his past self, and he has a pruning stick in his hands. He realizes that he is the one who saved him and prunes his past self just in time.
