Vikram Bakshi: Indian Police Force character explained

Vikram Bakshi is one of the main leads in the high-octane action drama series, Indian Police Force. Vivek Oberoi plays the character in the show, currently streaming on Prime Video.

Vikram Bakshi is a formidable police officer and remains a strong presence in the narrative of the Indian Police Force, even after his onscreen departure.

The superior of Kabir Malik and a mentor to him as well, Vikram’s actions and his fate inform most of Kabir’s actions after the former passes away.

The personal & professional

Vikram Bakshi is a family man, with a loving wife Shruti, and a young son named Ayush. Their nuclear family has another member, Kabir Malik.

Vikram is Kabir’s superior in Delhi Police and considers him more than just a friend. Even Shruti and Ayush treat him as their own. Vikram also acts as his mentor at times.

At work, Vikram is a resolute police officer who’s also ready to go off the books if he deems it fit for the situation at hand.

When it comes to putting himself on the front lines, he doesn’t hesitate for a second, as is evident by his actions during the Delhi serial blasts.

When he spots a kid grabbing onto the IED explosive he found near India Gate, he walks over to the kid takes the bomb from him, and waits until the bomb disposal squad arrives.

Bonds & dynamics

When Tara Shetty, his old friend from the IPS training days at the academy, is called in to work along with the Delhi Special Cell, that Vikram heads, the two are off to a heated start.

They share a love-hate bond where both respect each other but are also irked by each other’s penchant for being stubborn and headstrong.

The two have constant bickerings and tussle, but it’s mostly a playful banter at the end of the day.

Tara’s contribution to their investigations proves to be crucial and before consulting her, Vikram and Kabir take the helm of a covert operation.

The goodbyes

They attack Zarar and his fellow terrorists where they’re hiding.

Most other terrorists are either killed or arrested in the gunfire that ensues.

However, Zarar manages to use a kid as a hostage to keep Vikram at bay.

He asks Vikram to give up his gun lest he wants the innocent kid to be killed.

He throws away his gun and Zara picks it up, and the next moment he shoots Vikram Bakshi twice.

Vikram bleeds out and eventually passes away. With his family, he leaves his memories and with Kabir, he leaves his legacy, as well as a drive for vengeance against Zarar.
