V. D. Tyagi, the president of the Patparganj Bar Association, now aspires to be the president of the Delhi Bar Association in Maamla Legal Hai. Ravi Kishan plays V. D. Tyagi.
V. D. Tyagi is a crafty lawyer who knows how to use people and the law to get his way. That is how Tyagi managed to become president of the Patparganj Bar Association.
Tyagi’s ultimate goal is to become the attorney general, but before that, he is going to contest elections for the presidency of the Delhi Bar Association.
However, Tyagi’s rival, Mahinder Phorey, who is also contesting elections, is the biggest obstacle in his way.
His father’s gift
Tyagi shares a strained relationship with his father, Sarveshwar Dayal Tyagi, a retired High Court judge.
While his father’s colleagues used their positions and influence to support their children’s careers, Tyagi’s father did not do any of that.
He allowed Tyagi to struggle and pave his own way, which Tyagi managed to do, but with feelings of bitterness regarding his father’s lack of support
Tyagi comes up with ingenious strategies to garner support and deal with the problems that he faces during his campaign, including coercing a lawyer named Jaitley.
When Tyagi’s father hears about his tactics, he grows concerned about Tyagi’s choices. He visits Tyagi and gives him a bracelet.
The bracelet always reminded him of his responsibility to do the right thing and provided clarity every time he delivered a sentence.
He also tells Tyagi that he did not use his influence to advance his career because he wanted his son to be independent and better than others.
His father’s visit affects Tyagi. He then refrains from breaking minor laws during his campaign and becomes more conscientious about his actions.
A significant choice
Tyagi has the support of the lawyers at Patparganj District Court because he uses his influence and ideas to help them in their time of need.
His loyal supporters work hard to secure his victory, but despite his and their hard work, Tyagi loses to Phorey.
However, that is when Tyagi gets another opportunity: he is offered a judgeship. The offer presents a dilemma.
Tyagi wants to keep growing until he becomes the attorney general. He believes that the job of a judge does not have the same thrill, but it could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Tyagi decides to decline the offer and continue pursuing his goal. However, when Judge Rainsla hears Tyagi’s reasons, she decides to show him how rewarding the job of a judge can be.
She makes him see that judges get to answer people’s prayers and receive their gratitude in return, which is where the thrill lies.
Tyagi doubts whether a man like him can be worthy of this position, and Judge Rainsla assures him that he will be once he takes the oath on the constitution.
Tyagi then accepts the offer, which changes his future plans. He wears his father’s bracelet, showing his willingness to make the right choices.
