Untamed Royals revolves around the crimes committed by a group of wealthy teenagers, for which others have to pay the price. The film is now streaming on Netflix.
Plot summary
Xavier, a teenager from a wealthy family, enjoys committing crimes with his best friend, Gerardo, who does not come from an influential family like Xavier.
Gerardo uses the money he steals with Xavier to pay for his affair with Pilar, the wife of Xavier’s wealthy neighbor. Despite Gerardo’s attempts to prove that he can provide for her, Pilar refuses to leave her husband.
Gerardo is also seeing Xavier’s sister, Mariana, while Xavier is dating a wealthy girl named Renata, an influencer who is best friends with Mariana.
One day, Xavier robs his own family with Gerardo while he is alone at home with their house help, Mari, purely for the thrill of it.
To make the robbery look believable, Gerardo beats Xavier up and even shoots him, which Xavier does not mind because violence and crime excite him.
Xavier’s influential grandfather sends Officer Rodrigo Majarrez, who works at the office of the Attorney General, and Officer Martínez to investigate the case.
Due to the lack of cameras at the country club where Xavier’s house is located, Rodrigo and Martínez have no leads, so they investigate everyone.
While Xavier’s family suspects their driver, Leopoldo, whom they fired for allegedly stealing a watch on the day of the robbery, Rodrigo and Martínez suspect Gerardo.
When Leopoldo’s house is searched, a gun is found, which is enough to charge him with the robbery. Not long after, Gerardo and Xavier extort Renata’s mother by claiming that they have kidnapped Renata.
The officers know that Gerardo and Xavier both engage in violence for excitement, so they suspect Gerardo of being behind the extortion as well.
Rodrigo shares his suspicions with Xavier’s father, Santiago, who refuses to believe that his son’s only friend could be a criminal. Santiago is convinced that a staff member is behind the robbery and extortion.
Meanwhile, Xavier and Gerardo continue living as they always have, using the money from their crimes to play poker with dangerous people.
Mariana, who had overheard her father’s conversation with Rodrigo, finds her skirt torn and realizes that Xavier and Gerardo used the fabric to convince Renata’s mother of her kidnapping in order to extort money.
Her suspicions are confirmed when she hides in their car and eavesdrops on their conversation. She also witnesses them in a hit-and-run accident while fleeing from the people they play poker with.
Mariana then threatens to reveal the truth to Renata if Xavier does not confess himself. In response, Xavier reveals that he knows Leopoldo was fired because of her.
Mariana had stolen their father’s watch, a crime Leopoldo was accused of, which led to Leopoldo losing his job and then getting arrested by the police.
Ending explained:
Revealing the truth to Renata
Due to Mariana’s threat, Xavier has no choice but to confess to Renata that he was the one who extorted her mother by lying about her kidnapping.
Although Renata is upset, she decides not to tell her mother anything, but she does confront Mariana for not revealing the truth to her sooner.
Mariana then tells Renata that her mother only paid one million pesos when Xavier and Gerardo had demanded two million.
Renata’s mother is very rich but refused to pay the full amount, even when she thought her daughter’s life was in danger. This revelation leaves Renata upset with her family.
Taking a life
Unlike Xavier and Gerardo, Mariana believes that she deserves much more than two million, so she devises a plan to get more money from Renata’s family.
This time, Renata, upset with her mother, joins Mariana, Xavier, and Gerardo in extorting money from her own family. She believes that with this money, she will be able to escape her family and become famous.
The four of them kidnap Renata’s younger brother, Vicente. They drug him using sleeping pills that Gerardo’s mother had given him and demand a large ransom from Renata’s parents, which they pay.
However, Vicente never returns home. The kidnappers accidentally give him too many sleeping pills, leading to his death.
Renata is devastated by her brother’s death, but she does not come clean to her parents. Instead, she and her friends dump Vicente’s body in a drainage channel.
Framing the powerless
After his conversation with Santiago, Rodrigo changes his approach. To please Santiago, he tries to coerce a false confession from Leopoldo.
When Leopoldo refuses to say what Rodrigo and Martínez want, they kill him. At the same time, Rodrigo continues collecting evidence against Gerardo.
He meets with Pilar and learns about the money Gerardo has been giving her, which confirms his suspicions about Gerardo’s involvement in the crimes.
Rodrigo and Martínez are aware that Gerardo was involved in Vicente’s kidnapping as well, but rather than arresting him, they pin the blame on Vicente’s nanny, Paty, who was having an affair with Leopoldo.
They lie to Paty, claiming that Leopoldo confessed to all his crimes and implicated her as his accomplice. Paty, aware of her helpless situation, does not defend herself.
While Renata, Mariana, and Xavier get away with their crimes, Gerardo is blackmailed by Rodrigo and Martínez after they close the case.
Gerardo is forced to hand over the money he made from the crimes to stay out of prison, as Rodrigo can use Pilar to testify against him. Gerardo is left with only a small amount and is forced to work for Rodrigo.
Despite this, Gerardo continues to live a carefree life with Xavier and Mariana, while innocent people suffer the consequences of their actions.
