Unstable season 2 revolves around Ellis trying to prepare Jackson to take over the business and contend with his mortality. The series is streaming on Netflix.

Plot summary:
Ellis is preparing for jail time with Leslie’s help but Anna makes it all go away using her connections.
Part of her deal is that she has to spend time with her ex-stepdaughter, Georgia, and the two have no love lost for each other.
Jackson is once again sucked into his father’s drama and completely ignores the kiss he had with Luna.
The whole thing awkwardly fizzles out thanks to Jackson’s cowardice. Ruby introduces him to her friend Peter Martin who is a fellow scientist.
Jackson enjoys talking to him so much that he decides to leave Dragon and work at Peter’s company, Magma.
Ellis doesn’t like that decision and to stick it to Jackson, he buys Peter’s company. Peter goes along with it because he’s an Ellis superfan and needs the investment.
Jackson quits because he doesn’t want to keep working for his father, but Ellis goes through a medical emergency and his son eventually comes around.
Georgia is employed as an intern but she doesn’t have any interest in working. She enjoys creating drama around the workplace and messes with Ruby and Luna first.
Peter’s company is developing a bio-battery that would revolutionize the energy industry and Luna wants to be the team leader of the project.
She asks Ruby to put in a good word for her because Ruby and Peter are close family friends.
Anna and Ellis are looking for someone new to represent Dragon at the BioTexpo and Ellis’ first thought is Jackson.
Jackson agrees after some pushback but Ellis puts too much pressure on him. Meanwhile, Peter is settling in and shows sufficient leadership skills to get noticed.
Georgia gets close to Malcolm and continues to cause chaos for her entertainment. Anna and Ellis start vetting Peter to present the bio-battery at the expo.
Jackson finds out about it and is heartbroken to hear that his father doesn’t believe he has what it takes anymore.
He starts seeing Georgia in this vulnerable state, and she very quickly gains influence on his actions.
She helps him turn the dynamic with his father so that he can get his way. Georgia has so much sway with Jackson that she goes to Ellis with a plan for him to win his son back.
It works for a while but when Ellis tells Jackson that he doesn’t want him dating Georgia anymore, Jackson argues with him and storms off.
Peter appoints Ruby as the team lead because friends need to stick together. This drives a wedge between Luna, who gets progressively bitter about the whole thing.
Ellis finally puts his faith in Peter, but he gets insecure when Peter immediately starts doing so well in public engagements.
Peter gets a minor death threat from someone named Sydney Grossman so Anna fabricates one on Ellis to boost his ego.
That situation snowballs into one big mess that brings the truth out of everybody. Ellis feels betrayed by Anna, while Jackson is hurt by Georgia’s idea to help her dad manipulate him.
Anna and Peter discuss how chaotic it is trying to run a company amidst all the father-son drama that Ellis and Jackson go through.
Luna tells Georgia that Jackson has a reputation for starting office romances that he then ditches to deal with his father’s chaos.
Ellis and Jackson drive off to get some time by themself and think about the future. They enter a realtor’s conference pretending to be other people and have a breakthrough.
A board meeting takes place and Anna suggests Peter’s name as interim CEO because Ellis has been highly unreliable lately.
Throughout all this, Leslie is still staying with Ellis and is worried about the changing power structure at Dragon.

The next venture
Ellis is annoyed that he’s been pushed out of his own company and doesn’t know what to do next until Leslie comes up with an idea.
They set up a fake university called Ellis U and enrolled all kinds of students. Leslie makes a bunch of Ellis U merch to sell so that he can make a profit.
Jackson tries to make up with Georgia and hears about what happened with his dad. He tells Anna that Ellis is the only one who can finish the bio-battery so he needs another chance.
He goes back home to convince Ellis to help, but Ellis visits the office with his students and they make a mess in the lab, including destroying the battery prototype.
Redemption arc
Ruby and Luna make up with each other after weeks of tension and Malcolm is thrilled. He finds out that Sydney Grossman’s threats to Peter have been escalating.
He rushes to Ellis and Jackson and tells them that Sydney worked with Peter in the past and claims that Peter stole the battery idea from him.
They head to Sydney’s house to talk to him, and they discover that it is one of Ellis’ “students” with a disguise on.
While Jackson is with his father, Georgia shows up for her date and is heartbroken to be ditched. She pours her heart out to Anna in a rare moment of vulnerability.
Jackson and Ellis find out that Sydney only contributed some ideas but the concept for the battery was Peter’s.
He also stole the original prototype to get paid so they cut him a cheque and headed back to the lab to get the battery working.
Passing the torch
Despite getting the battery working themselves, Ellis tells Anna that he wants Peter to present it at the expo.
It is a huge success and the company is on the rise once again as Ellis lets Peter hog the spotlight for a little.
He then connects Jackson with Georgia so that they can figure out what the future holds for them.
Anna is glad to see Ellis with a new perspective, but Leslie is still hanging around and that doesn’t spell good news.
She wonders what they did with the merch that he was desperately trying to offload and all she gets are mischievous giggles.
An advertisement for Ellis’ campaign for president plays with the slogan “Ellis 4 U” and all the merch is repurposed by adding a ‘4’ in the middle.
