In Death and Other Details, Keith Trubitsky’s death on a luxury cruise liner kicks off a murder investigation helmed by Detective Rufus Cotesworth. Michael Gladis plays Keith.
Keith Trubitsky is one of the guests joining the Colliers on a luxury cruise to celebrate Lawrence Collier’s retirement. He joins as Tripp’s friend and a potential investor in his business.
Trubitsky leaves a first impression as a brash and ill-tempered rich businessman who brags about his expensive watches and belongings.
Trubitsky’s rude behavior towards a waitress catches everyone’s eyes, especially Imogene Scott’s.
Imogene confronts Trubitsky, and when their conversation doesn’t go the way she planned, she resolves to hurt Trubitsky a little.
Trubitsky’s death
Trubitsky makes sure to get on everyone’s nerves during his time on the cruise. However, the person he actually manages to trigger is Leila.
Anna’s wife, Leila, who has grown paranoid since an accident, suspects that Trubitsky has been following her for a while and has made his way onto the cruise. She figures out that Keith Trubitsky is a fake name.
Imogene, on the other hand, breaks into Trubitsky’s room, damages his watch, and leaves with some cash.
Unfortunately, the next day, Trubitsky is found dead. A scared Imogene immediately rushes to the security room to delete her footage.
She had managed to get laid with Jules, the head of security, and find out the passcode to the security room.
Detective Rufus Cotesworth is one step ahead of hers. He has the footage of her entering the room and has deleted it from the original footage.
Rufus doesn’t accuse Imogene of killing Trubitsky. Instead, he asks her to join him in solving the case.
Trubitsky’s true identity
Years ago, Rufus broke Imogene’s heart by walking away from solving her mother’s murder. Rufus is on the cruise and working with Imogene because of Trubitsky.
While working with Imogene, Rufus constantly mentions that he always likes to have an assistant working with him.
Imogene eventually remembers that Trubitsky is none other than Rufus’ assistant, who worked with Rufus on her mother’s case.
Rufus reveals that Trubitsky, whose real name is Danny, came to Rufus with the news of Lawrence Collier possibly handing over the reins to his daughter, Anna.
They are bringing in outside investors, which means they have to open the books and expose their corporate secrets.
Danny saw an opportunity here to catch Viktor Sams, who is possibly behind the death of Imogene’s mother.
Danny convinced Rufus to join him on the cruise after telling him that Imogene would be there. To keep the promise he once made to Imogene, Rufus agrees.
Furthermore, Imogene now starts seeing Danny as a genuinely nice person who didn’t give up on Rufus.
