In The Afterparty season 2, Travis Gladrise is the ex-lover of Grace. He attends her wedding with the intention of saving her and exposing her future husband’s plans. Paul Walter Hauser plays Travis Gladrise.
When Grace discovers that Edgar is dead, Travis is the first person to answer her scream. Everyone wonders why he is still here, as he should be home by now.
Travis sees himself as a detective and attempts to solve this case on his own. When Zoë asks him about what he is doing, he claims that this isn’t his first rodeo. He is part of a Reddit guild that solves murder cases like Edgar’s, and that’s what has shaped him to be like this.
Aniq and Danner decide to interrogate Travis after learning that he was the first to answer Grace’s call for help and had said that Edgar is going to die during the party before Edgar’s death. When Danner confronts Travis, research on Edgar is found with him.
Travis’ purpose for attending the wedding
Grace had invited all of her former suitors to the wedding as an act of courtesy. However, Travis believed it to be her cry for help when he received her invitation.
Travis looked into who Edgar is and learned about Edgar’s cryptocurrency. Travis has been scammed before, and he wanted to save others from people like Edgar. In this case, he wanted to save Grace.
According to Travis’ investigation, Edgar is using his own money to artificially inflate the value of his cryptocurrency, considering that the top five investors in this cryptocurrency are companies owned by Edgar himself.
During the rehearsal dinner, Travis had also broken into Edgar’s room, where he found a list of names, books on disappearing, and a map with locations marked, which made him think that Edgar is going to escape with the money and Grace would be taking the fall.
Travis also tells Aniq and Danner about a safe in Edgar’s room, which he tried to open. When he failed to do so, he found a list of codes in the room. He deciphered them and came to the conclusion that Edgar is going to fake his death and run away.
He later confronted Edgar during the afterparty by telling him that he is going to die tonight, and Edgar ended that conversation by calling everyone around him the devil.
Travis only wanted to save Grace from Edgar. Hence, he camped outside Edgar and Grace’s room, hoping that he would catch Edgar when he tries to run away. However, Edgar ended up dying on Grace’s bed.
Important aspects of Travis’ story
Travis’ whole investigation is based on his assumptions. He saw himself as a cool detective on a case. The most important information in Travis’ investigation is Hannah’s involvement.
According to Travis, she hinted that even she wouldn’t mind ending this marriage. Apart from that, Travis had also tried to follow Edgar when he abruptly left the dance with Grace at the wedding. Unfortunately, someone stopped him from doing so by hitting him from behind.
Lastly, Edgar’s tech scam and the safe he has in his office is something substantial.
