In Another Self, Toprak is the man Ada has always loved, but their relationship has never been easy. Murat Boz plays Toprak.
From the moment Toprak, an aspiring rockstar, met Ada, a doctor, they were attracted to each other and soon began dating.
Although Ada and Toprak were in love, they frequently fought about Toprak’s life choices. Ada wanted Toprak to take on responsibilities like an adult, but he never did.
They eventually broke up after Ada caught him cheating. Ada was pregnant with Toprak’s child but never got the chance to tell him. She got an abortion and married Selim, the man who supported her through it.
A second chance
Toprak’s grandfather was a gypsy chief. He was falsely accused of killing a man and hanged for a crime he did not commit.
After his grandfather’s imprisonment, Toprak’s father felt abandoned and repeated the cycle with Toprak. This family trauma is still affecting Toprak.
Toprak struggles to be there for his daughter. His daughter lives in the Netherlands, but Toprak cannot be with her because his visa has been revoked.
Toprak attends Zaman’s sessions in Ayvalık to move on from the past. There, he meets Ada, who is still angry with him for cheating on her.
Despite everything, Toprak and Ada never stopped having feelings for each other, and sparks fly when they meet again.
They sleep together after Ada decides to divorce Selim. Once Ada and Selim separate, she starts dating Toprak again.
Toprak even asks Ada to move to the Netherlands with him because he wants to be with her as well as his daughter, and Ada agrees. However, Sevgi’s cancer relapses, and Ada decides to stay in Ayvalık to support her friend.
When Toprak’s daughter, Flor, visits him with her mother, Eva, Toprak convinces them to stay so he can be with Ada, giving their relationship a second chance.
A relationship not meant to be
Ada tries to adjust to having Flor and Eva around, but Toprak keeps breaking his promises to Ada while trying to balance his time between Flor and Ada.
They start having the same arguments they did before, and Ada, who never got over Toprak cheating on her, fears that he will betray her again.
Toprak then gets the opportunity to make his own album and tour with a band. His career becomes another priority over his relationship with Ada.
This leads to Ada breaking up with Toprak before he leaves for Istanbul. When Toprak returns months later, he still wishes to be with Ada but finds out that she is already dating Diyar.
Ada has realized that Toprak is not the one for her, as their relationship has always been difficult. She urges Toprak to accept this too.
Toprak then realizes that while he cannot be the person Ada wants, he can still become the father his daughter needs.
Once he deals with all the traumatic events of his family’s past, he says goodbye to Ada and moves to the Netherlands with Flor and Eva for good.
