The Pavel mafia in Strong Girl Nam-Soon explained

The international mafia organization called Pavel has been working from the shadows and controlling the prime antagonist, Ryu Si-O, in Netflix’s comedy Kdrama, Strong Girl Nam-Soon.

Ryu Si-O is the CEO of a logistics company called Doogo in South Korea. It is a front for his drug manufacturing and distribution business that has been claiming thousands of victims all over the country.

It’s an extremely potent drug that Si-O has backed the creation of himself, and he also owns the antidote import and export, which can potentially give him a terrifying monopoly in the drug market.

He didn’t become this supervillain by himself, though, as he was groomed to become a dangerous man by Pavel, a Russian mafia organization called Pavel.

When he seems to slipping out of their hands, the two forces for evil come at odds with each other.

Origins

Pavel is an organized crime ring that Tagore Pavel started in 1954. Tagore was a Russian mobster of Hungarian descent.

Initially, it was a simple organization involved in drug trafficking, gambling, and prostitution. This changed when a man named Sabaki joined in the ’80s and steered the organization in a different direction.

Sabaki was an orphan of Yemeni descent who graduated from the University of Kent in the UK. A white collar at first, he’d eventually become the boss of Pavel and jump into owning hotels.

From that point onwards, Pavel became the leading organized crime ring in the world, dealing with casinos, and gaining control over the black market. This further resulted in a training ground for the new white-collar members.

The latest heir of the organization has appeared in the form of the mysterious Nozh, the person that the secret organization Opulentia is trying to track down.

Modus Operandi

Pavel employs one rather cruel method to groom new members. They kidnap or import young orphan kids to train them as human weapons under very tight control.

Ryu Si-O is one of these orphans who was subjected to brutal methods during his training, including shooting a man at point-blank range to pass a test.

Some of these kids try to break out and it’s easy to know what becomes of them when they do. The mafia organization doesn’t show mercy and keeps its leash on the members tight even when they grow up.
