The Most Beautiful Flower is a Mexican series about a girl named Mich who wants to become popular in high school but is forced to decide between her dreams and family tradition. The series is now streaming on Netflix.

Plot summary
Michelle or Mich is a high schooler who dreams of being popular and sitting at the fountain in her school where all the cool kids sit. Her best friends Yadi and Tania try to talk her out of this silly dream and tell her that she’s great as she is and doesn’t need to seek it out.
Mich has been dating Dani, the most popular boy in school, but it has all been in secret and when she talks about revealing it to everyone else he’s hesitant.
Mich’s cousin Brenda is one of the popular kids but she pretends like she doesn’t know Mich even though they are related. Mich is invisible in school as apart from her friends, no one else recognizes her at school.
Mich gets mad at Dani for treating her like a dirty secret and ends their relationship but he says that he loves her and tries to win her back.
Meanwhile, she meets Mati, who is Mrs Elda’s grandson and also a DJ who does a few public events. Mich is very good at singing and wants to sing at a wedding someday. Mati says he can help her achieve that.
When the cool kids host a fundraiser for the “Most Beautiful Flower” pageant, Mich sneaks in and wins over everyone with her singing. Brenda notices that Mich likes Mati so she approaches him to make Mich jealous.
Mich’s mother and grandmother both won the pageant and it is a family tradition which they want her to continue but Mich is more interested in starring in the school play which is an adaptation of “Alice in Wonderland” titled “Alice in Xochiland”.
Brenda and Mati begin dating. Mich struggles between her feelings for Mati and Dani who is still doing his best to let her know that he loves her. A new girl named Majo joins their school and Mati gets along with her well.
Brenda tries to maintain her popularity in school but her home life is not so great as her mother is unreliable and her father doesn’t live with them. She’s constantly juggling her school life with the responsibilities of being an adult.
Mich begins spending more time with Majo and eventually finds out that Majo is bisexual. She feels some attraction towards Majo but isn’t entirely sure about it. When she tells her mother that she might be into girls, her mother tells her to keep it a secret.
With Mich so focused on everything in her own life, she doesn’t give a lot of importance to Tania and Yadi and they cut her off for being rude and abusing their friendship.
With all the pressure of being Alice or taking part in the Flower pageant, and not having anyone supporting her, Mich runs away from home and asks Mati to drive her to a conference where her father is speaking.
Mich’s parents are divorced and her father doesn’t know her too well but she still hopes that they can connect somehow. She has such a good time with Mati and they kiss at a time when Mati and Brenda are on a break because she was paranoid about his friendship with Mich.
Mich is the 5th understudy to Brenda in the role of Alice and Brenda begins getting rid of the others to hog the spotlight but Mich manages to stay on till the end.
The day arrives for the premiere of Alice in Xochiland and the pageant and Mich has a big decision to make.

Does Mich choose Dani, Mati or Majo?
Mich believes that she is in love with Mati because she can’t stop thinking about their kiss. She has similar feelings for Majo because of the time they spend together but she doesn’t think Majo feels the same.
She makes up with Dani and starts dating him despite her complicated feelings. She doesn’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings but she doesn’t know what to do about it.
Tania and Yadi tell her that she can be on her own if she wants to. She ultimately keeps everyone hanging and doesn’t explicitly choose one person even though she has told all of them how she feels about them.
What happens at the premiere?
Mich keeps impressing at the auditions and with the other understudies eliminated by Brenda, she is competing with her cousin. She’s happy with getting the chance to perform twice but Brenda doesn’t want her to perform at all.
She posts a video on her social media revealing that Mich is her cousin. This turns Mich into a popular girl overnight and Brenda tells her that she can have this fame that she always wanted as long as she quits the play.
When Mich refuses to quit, Brenda posts a video claiming that she was hacked and she is not related to Mich. She asks all her followers to cancel Mich because she was the one who hacked Brenda.
Brenda doesn’t show up for the premiere and Mich gets the chance to open the show. However, everyone begins to boo her because of Brenda’s post. She goes back inside and begins to cry but with some encouragement from Tania and Yadi, she comes back out and gives an amazing performance.
What about the pageant?
While Brenda is recording her video, someone tells her about Mich and Mati’s kiss and she ends the recording. She goes to Mati to confirm and he says that it is true. That’s why she doesn’t show up for the premiere.
After her great performance. Mich goes back home to tell her family how well it went. Her mother and grandmother tell her that Brenda will be staying with them for a while.
Mich says that she’s changed her mind about the pageant and wants to attend but they say it’s not necessary and Mich sees Brenda in the traditional dress. She says that she’s taking part to continue the family tradition that Mich initially didn’t care about.
