Plot summary

It’s 1999, and after being involved in a shootout, Jass is recovering in the hospital. The events of the car accident that caused Teresa’s death still haunt her.

Meanwhile, Wanda is adjusting to Piotr’s relationship with Joanna Drewicz, who is investigating recently uncovered remains that are being looked at by the new prosecutor, who wants to be done with the case as soon as he can.

However, the new assessor, Kinga Matwiejska, doesn’t look at the case the way her senior does.

Witold receives a call from the manager of Centrum Hotel, Kociołek, saying that he has a letter for him from someone from his past.

Before Kociołek can hand Witold the letter, Kociołek is killed at his hotel on his birthday. Somebody pushed him into a big boiling soup pot.

Witold isn’t the only one who has business with Kociołek; a man named Jassijej is looking to meet Kociołek’s son, Filip, in particular.

Witold and Jassijej come together. They cut a deal and decide to help each other.

Since Kociołek’s death, Marian Hanys has been slowly taking over the city and has bought the hotel already.

In the meantime, Piotr struggles to understand the rebellious nature of his daughter, Wanda. When he doesn’t, it’s Joanna who comes to comfort Wanda.

Piotr eventually agrees to let Wanda be free and enjoy herself at her friends’ house, which ends up becoming a big mistake, as Wanda goes missing.

Mika is investigating the case of a woman found in the woods. He requests a recovering Jass’ help to talk to her.

Jass also investigates the disappearance of Wanda, who might be involved in Hanys’ business, as she was hanging out at his daughter’s house.

Eventually, Jass comes to find out that this woman’s case and Wanda’s disappearance are connected.

Amidst all of this, a desperate Piotr investigates on his own to find Wanda and learns that Wanda did approach Hanys while looking for work.

While Mika and Jass track down the person who picked Wanda up after watching the CCTVs, Piotr corners Hanys.

Mika and Jass fail to find Wanda at this boy’s hideout, but they do find a girl who has Wanda’s bracelet, which suggests that they are closer.

Piotr, on the other hand, kidnaps Hanys and interrogates him. Hanys claims that he hasn’t kidnapped Piotr’s daughter or hired her.

Hanys does give Piotr another lead. He tells him about the other bigger fish who are running border transit. They have established a shipping company as a cover. Hanys also gives Piotr their location, but Piotr keeps Hanys tied at a hideout.

While assisting on the case of Wanda, Babe comes across the name Donata Muszyńska, who seems to have no data on her but has been to the hotel.

Donata Muszyńska is the one holding the girls, including Wanda, captive. She is the other big fish working in the city, apart from Hanys.

Wanda and the other girls are sent away in a truck. Babe and a few officers attack the place but are overpowered.

Jass and Mika come to the rescue and take down the attackers. Unfortunately, Babe dies in the shootout.

Piotr, on the other hand, who had broken into the truck of Donata’s company, managed to rescue Wanda and the other girls who had been kept captive.

Meanwhile, Hanys meets his end at the hands of the new manager he selected and mistreated.

Ending explained:

Jassijej’s debt

Jassijej is revealed to be Jass’ father. He is here to pay the debt he owes to Kociołek, who used to work as a waiter back in the day.

Kociołek also used to solicit women at the hotel behind the manager’s back. One time, he saved Jassijej’s daughter, Jass, who went by the name Anuszka back then and had fallen into a tar pit.

Thanks to Kociołek, Jass survived. Jass’ father had said that he owes Kociołek, and Kociołek asked him to make sure his son, Filip, is fine if anything ever happens to him.

Jassijej is here exactly for that. However, it’s from Jass that he learns that Filip hated his name as a kid and preferred the name Alfred, which means they have to look for a person named Alfred.

Kociołek’s past and how it ties to the present

In the past, Kociołek and his companion, Grochu, were soliciting women for a client who preferred a more intense experience.

This same man had handed Kociołek the letter that he was supposed to give to Witold. Kociołek was to provide for this man one last time.

He is forced to send his careless wife, Violka, also known as Violetta, and Donata to him when he fails to get the swimmer he wanted.

Kociołek’s wife isn’t able to handle the abuse of this man, which results in her killing him. Kociołek’s wife attempts to run away, but Kociołek manages to catch her.

Kociołek then buries both his wife and the man. Their remains are recovered by Joanna and her team in the present.

The charges of soliciting women fall on Kociołek’s manager, and Kociołek receives a promotion, thanks to Jassijej’s good word.

In the present, Jassijej and Witold track Kociołek’s son, Filipo, down. Filipo goes by the name Albert now. Jassijej keeps his word, while Witold receives the letter he had been looking for.

When Wanda wakes up, she mentions that the girls she was with used to be afraid of someone called the Czech King, whose name was Albert, which makes Jass realize that it’s Albert who is running all of these operations.

Albert and Donata’s arrest

Even though Jassijej refrains from disclosing Albert’s location, Jass and Mika track Albert down. Albert is busy giving his mother a proper burial.

Albert admits to killing his father, who had lied to him about his mother. Donata is arrested while running away on a bus, thanks to Kinga, who recognizes her from her swimming section.

Following these arrests, Kinga, who lost Babe during this case, opens up to Joanna by confessing that she and Joanna’s sister were in the same class and that she was the person who caused her to jump.

Wanda forgives Jass and calls her her second mother. Jass catches up with Mika, who reveals that they have also arrested Albert’s stepmother, who was the head of the business.

Lastly, Witold follows the letter in hopes of reuniting with Elsa Koepke. Unfortunately, Elsa passed away two years ago. Witold meets her daughter, who welcomes him into their house.
