There are three characters at the center of the narrative of rom-com mystery drama, Behind Your Touch, who form the three vertices of a love triangle trope, only it’s not as prominent or important for the plot.
Bong Ye-Bun is a veterinarian in the small town of Chungcheong-Do in Mujin. She has a clinic for pets but not the customers who can help her amp up her profits.
Love and social life-wise, she has had little luck, and being over thirty she has not been in a meaningful relationship due to all the time she spent on studies to impress her grandfather.
That is until two young men of really different personalities enter her life.
Kim Seon-Woo
Kim Seon-Woo is a beautiful young man and it is his face that first captures Ye-Bun, taking her by surprise as she’s almost spellbound by his pretty face.
Kim Seon-Woo quickly gains her interest and Ye-Bun is pretty much head-over-heels for him, often finding one way or another to spend some time with him.
Seon-Woo also grows fond of her and slowly falls for her. He finds in her similarities to his own life, and past, and how the past continues to haunt him.
Because she’s the only one in town who trusts him when others see him with suspicions, his feelings for Ye-Bun are even stronger. Their adorable chemistry remains constant throughout Behind Your Touch right up until the end.
The two seem to be pretty much in love and are headed to a dating phase before Seon-Woo’s tragic murder at the hands of the town’s serial killer, which occurs as Seon-Woo successfully saves Ye-Bun’s life.
Moon Jang-Yeol
Detective Moon Jang-Yeol gets the worst luck when one of his own happens to stumble upon him as he conducts a police raid. This leads to Jang-Yeol faltering for a while and it ends up costing him a transfer.
Jang-Yeol is transferred to the Major Crimes Division of the Mujin Police Station. For the most part, he’s only focused on solving a big case so that he can score big and get to return to Seoul to his old job and position as soon as possible.
However, amid his efforts, he meets Bong Ye-Bun, a veterinarian who claims to have psychic powers that she can use when she touches the target’s butt.
Behind Your Touch begins with their hilarious dynamic where he’s frequently running into her trying to touch someone’s butt, upon which he always cuffs her.
He eventually comes around to her, though, and after witnessing firsthand that her preternatural claims are indeed true, he gets her to work.
Thereafter, most of the story of Behind Your Touch sees the two working together to touch peoples’ butts and possibly find clues to finding the serial killer terrorizing Mujin.
In the course of these investigations, though, Janh-Yeol ends up falling for Ye-Bun, who is only an annoyance to him at first, a good person with vulnerabilities later on, and a romantic interest finally.
Bong Ye-Bun
Bong Ye-Bun is simply all over Seon-Woo at first, and her feelings for him feel almost like that of a love-sick teenager. She acts all giddy and goofy around him, but it doesn’t mean that their dynamic lacks depth.
In fact, the amount of grief and experiences they have in common, makes them relate to each other more, and they have a fair share of deep conversations to qualify their dynamic to be a strong, mature one.
On the other hand, Ye-Bun is largely only annoyed at Moon Jang-Yeol, who acts coldly. Perhaps it’s because they’re opposites of each other, but a certain mutual attraction between the two is obvious right from the start.
There are moments when they behave like an old married couple and Ye-Bun is also way more comfortable around him than she is around Kim Seon-Woo.
She also has moments where she sees him in a different light, but these moments are fleeting. That is until the end of Behind Tour Touch, where the two pretty much make their love clear to each other, before kicking off their relationship with a date.
