Plot summary

María Isabel Matallana Mahecha, also known as Maritza, is an aspiring influencer with a speech impediment. She believes that she will solve all her family problems as an influencer and make sure her father, Nibardo, who has worked hard for her, lives a happy life.

While her stepmother, Yesenia, and her stepbrothers, Polo and Castor, already despise her, her father doesn’t believe in her dream either, even though he loves her a lot.

Maritza is out there to prove herself. Unfortunately, her boyfriend, Germán, betrays her. He pushes her off a building while shooting a video of hers. Though she survives, as she is attached to a cable, Germán sells this news to reporters.

Overnight, Maritza becomes famous, with people assuming that she tried to kill herself. If that’s not enough, Germán posts a video of her doing this stunt, which starts a trend. People online begin to imitate this stunt.

Maritza’s name is spoiled. Nobody wants to work with her anymore. At a time like this, Salvador Sarabia, the son of the owner of Sarabia’s pizzeria, gives her a chance to work with him for his new pizzeria.

Salvador is recovering from the loss of his father and also investigating his death. His father, before dying, wanted to tell him something. Aldo Suárez, Salvador’s father’s lifelong rival, now owns Sarabia’s pizzeria.

Aldo Suárez and Salvador’s mother, Teresa, worked together to execute a fraud that allowed Suárez to have Sarabia’s pizzeria. They are trying to keep this fraud a secret from Salvador.

Maritza takes Salvador’s advice and attempts to clear her name. She is a bit reckless, but she manages to show the world that Germán pushed her from behind.

In this attempt to clear her name, she also ends up taking too many favors from Salvador. Salvador connects with Maritza like no other person. At times, Salvador’s business partner, Quique, is bothered by how Salvador relies on Maritza’s opinions.

To give his friend some clarity, he convinces Salvador’s girlfriend, Avril, to come over. Avril quickly grows jealous of Maritza and likes to think that she is trying to steal her boyfriend.

The truth is, somewhere, Maritza feels for Salvador, but she won’t interfere in Salvador and Avril’s relationship.

While Maritza does her best to spread a positive message as an influencer, the likes of Avril, other social media influencers, and even her own family keep finding ways to sabotage her one way or another.

When it comes to Avril, Salvador tolerates her behavior. However, he loses patience when he learns that Avril’s father has bought Sarabia’s pizzeria from Aldo.

Salvador finds out about the fraud and can sue Aldo and take back his father’s company, but now that Avril’s father has bought it, it is back in the family and eliminates any chance that Salvador has to expose Aldo.

Avril thinks that this will be her surprise for Salvador, but Salvador feels cheated. Avril and Salvador part ways for good. Avril not only keeps working for Aldo and Sarabia’s pizzeria, but she also continues to do her best to take Maritza down.

Maritza, on the other hand, is targeted right, left, and center by her enemies. Sometimes, Salvador’s pizzeria, Marizza Pizza, has to face the backlash for the same.

Things go out of hand when Maritza’s stepbrothers pull off a dangerous prank and call Maritza the orchestrator. Maritza is put in prison. Maritza’s name and face are attached to Marizza Pizza. Hence, the restaurant faces the heat as well.

Meanwhile, Avril also pays an influencer to run a smear campaign against Marizza Pizza and especially Maritza.

Ending explained:

Maritza clears her name

Salvador helps Maritza get bail. Maritza volunteers to step back and allow Salvador to remove her name and face from the company’s logo and brand name.

Though Salvador agrees to this, he eventually comes to realize how much work Maritza has put into the company. They are a good team, and he can’t let her go just like that. The name and face of the company remain the same.

Even Avril admits in a video that she tried to run a smear campaign against Maritza. If that’s not enough, she gives the names of all the people involved in this campaign, which also include the names of Maritza’s siblings.

The reason Avril confesses and her fate

Avril’s father is accused of money laundering. Her life turns upside down after the accusation, leaving her no option but to seek Salvador’s help.

She is threatened that her smear campaign will be exposed. Instead of having Salvador find out from elsewhere, Avril decides to go to him and apologize for everything.

Maritza and Salvador forgive Avril once she records a video admitting that she ran a smear campaign against them and it goes online. Since Avril is in desperate need of a job, she begs Maritza and Salvador for one.

Avril is offered the job of mopping the floors of Marizza Pizza. Maritza hopes that Avril will learn to not look down on people after working this job.

However, Avril is more interested in winning Salvador back by showing that she is hard-working and being friends with Maritza.

The fate of everyone else

Since Maritza is proven innocent, thanks to Avril’s video, Maritza is allowed to have her social media account, which was taken from her after she was put in prison, back.

Nibardo, Maritza’s father, decides to pursue his relationship with Martica, who works at Marizza Pizza, and leave his manipulative wife Yesenia.

Yesenia, on her side, pays the debt her sons owe to a thug from the prison and gets her sons to be productive at the right job.

Maritza’s best friend, Teddy, goes missing for a while after being rejected by Nacho. Teddy contacts Maritza eventually and tells her that he is in Miami at his aunt’s. It is revealed that he is working as a valet driver.

Watching Maritza happy brings Maritza and Salvador closer, who then kiss.
