The conflict between Demi and Cam in Freeridge explained

In Freeridge, Demi and Cam find themselves fighting with each other when Cam reveals that something Demi said in the past still haunts him to this day.

Demi and Cam are portrayed to be best friends who know everything about each other. Even missing the smallest detail about the other bothers them.

Demi learns that Cam is hiding the identity of a person who has scarred him for life when Andre comes seeking her help. Cam was trying to break up with Andre, and the latter believes that this person from his past is the reason why they are not doing good together.

Surprisingly, Demi, despite being Cam’s best friend, doesn’t know about this individual. She keeps thinking about it and eventually asks Cam, who admits that he has kept a few things from her, though she is completely open with him.

Demi spends the day reminding Cam about it. Cam eventually reveals that the person who has scarred him for life is none other than Demi herself.

How did Demi scar Cam?

On Andre’s show, Cam opens up about how Demi scarred him without taking her name. When Cam was 12, before he came out to his friends as bisexual, Demi said that she could never be with a guy who had been with a guy.

Cam also reveals that he was in love with Demi back then, and that hurt him. Demi, in her defense, claims that she doesn’t remember saying this at all. Demi continues to stay adamant, stating that this didn’t happen.

When Demi says that she doesn’t believe this happened, Cam shouts out that it doesn’t matter if she believes it. He experienced it, and she is not respecting it anymore.

Cam tells Demi how he felt when she scarred him

From that point on, Cam starts calling Demi a liar. Demi is sorry for the way Cam felt and that he thinks she said those words. Cam once again corrects her and claims that he didn’t think that she said this; he knows that she said this.

Demi continues to defend herself for saying that dumb thing because she was 12 and didn’t know about sexuality. Cam then explains that the problem is that it was devastating, and now her apology is not even about him; it’s about her.

Cam got crushed that day and since then hasn’t fully recovered. This thing that she said and is now not owning up to has made him question everything: his confidence, his self-esteem, and even his best friend, who is supposed to be his safe space.

Cam questions if she can’t accept him for who he is, what is the chance that the whole world will? She made him feel like he is gross. Demi attempts to make things right by kissing Cam there right away, but he pushes her away and parts ways with her.

Do Demi and Cam reconcile?

At Gloria and Ines’ party, Andre vows to patch things up between Demi and Cam. He locks them in a room together, where they are forced to have a conversation.

After a few drinks, Demi apologizes to Cam again. She confesses that she truly doesn’t remember saying that, but she does remember feeling that way.

She admits that she is embarrassed that she was so judgmental back then. She clarifies that Cam wasn’t gross; she was gross. Once Demi owns up to her mistake, she and Cam lock a kiss.

They kick off their new relationship, but their romance eventually fizzles out. Cam blames it on the prediction made by Cinnamon, which suggests whoever he chooses will be a wrong choice.

They eventually break up. During Thanksgiving dinner at Mariluna’s, Demi tells Andre that her grandmother once predicted that Demi will meet a number of men before finding her forever one. Also, that forever one will have a habit of blinking his eyes a lot.

Demi later sees Cam doing the same and realizes that he is her forever one. The question remains whether they will ever get back together or not.
