Suellen is one of the main leads in Netflix’s crime drama series, Criminal Code. The character is played by Maeve Jinkings.
Suellen wants to be on the field amid the investigations into robbers and gangs are going to be carried out with robust strength and rigor. She lives for the action and she gets to see and participate in it at the cost of handling a rogue and explosive federal officer as her partner.
Notorious for being hard to work with, Benício is the one she’s partnered up with but she readily agrees to the partnership if she gets to be a key part of the action going forward. Soon, she becomes a crucial part of the investigations and breakthroughs.
Competent police officer
Suellen is the reason Benício is able to get out of many sticky situations throughout Criminal Code, whether it be a perilous chase or a confrontation with his superior regarding his unruly action.
She is quick on her feet and thinks of some way or another to help her partner out, where he would just mumble his way to a worse turnout otherwise. She uses her words and tact as a detective, but her competence isn’t confined to verbal ingenuity.

She is one of the most competent police officers at Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil. When Benício leaps to do something that’s outside of what he’s being ordered to do, Suellen is the one who dissents, but also the one who improvises when she agrees with Benício.
She is also a loyal partner and goes to great lengths that put her at considerable risk to help Benício. She even ends up getting seriously injured during one of the chases. She is hospitalized but before full recovery, she is back at the station and jumps back into action.
Struggling family woman
Suellen’s family life is quite the opposite of her professional life. She is married to Fe, a police officer himself who works at another station, and his job concerns the desk. He loves his wife and consistently works to keep their marriage from falling apart.
They have a child together who doesn’t get to spend a lot of time with her mother. Suellen suggests getting a nanny but Fe is reluctant. He wants her to be less committed to her work, which occupies most of her hours, and Fe gradually becomes more and more resentful of it.
He tries again and again, but even after an injury in the line of duty that sends her to a hospital, Suellen can’t be out of work for long. This causes a rift between her and her husband, who wants her to give more time to her family, to him and their infant daughter.
Suellen finally has to contend with what she wants in her life and she talks to Fe about not being able to continue her marriage. She loves the job and she can’t give time to her husband, so the couple separates, in spite of the love they have for each other.
