Stigr: Vikings: Valhalla character explained

Stigr is a stranger who shows up in Jomsburg and earns Freydis’ appreciation immediately. Leander Vyvey plays the character of Stigr.

Stigr is spotted by warriors in the forest near Jomsburg and refuses to show them what is in his bag.

He defends himself from their attacks till Freydis and Harald break things up. He reveals that he is a healer who has traveled the world and is looking for Jomsburg.

She welcomes him to the village and tells him that he needs to work for his keep. Stigr arrives on the day of a wedding and joins in their celebrations.

Freydis is impressed with his knowledge and asks him to teach Harald about the world. He spends the night with her and is the first to realize what’s wrong with the sick.

A reliable companion

Stigr has the presence of mind to check the kitchen and discovers that there are poisonous mushrooms in the flour they got from Kattegat.

He rushes to find the cure in the woods but is briefly accused of being the poisoner. He helps most of the villagers and travels with them to Greenland.

When some men harass the Jomspeople, Stigr stands up for them and humiliates the Greenlanders.

After Erik kidnaps Harald, Stigr speaks to Freydis’ mother and finds out where the boy could be.

He tells Freydis to find help while he gets her son back. He travels to the icy north to find Harald and comes up against one of Erik’s men.

Stigr kills his attacker but comes away with a terrible wound. As he’s lying there close to death, Harald approaches and gives him hope of survival.
