Stella & Paul Marks’ past in The Morning Show season 3 explained

In The Morning Show season 3, Stella hints that Paul Marks can be bad for UBA. She describes him as ruthless. The sixth episode sheds light on what transpired between the two.

Paul Marks’ Hyperion and UBA are one step closer to their deal, and UBA is receiving a bad reception for joining hands with Paul Marks, as everyone believes he might have too much influence on the legacy media company.

To make sure that they know who they are dealing with, Alex decides to bring the tech billionaire to her show. She tasks Chip and Isabella to dig dirt on Paul, and Chip does meet Stella to find out if she knows something like that since they share a past. Stella thinks long about it and eventually lets Chip have what he wants.

The Stanford student

The information Stella gives to Chip is about a Stanford student, and it works as a trump card for Alex. The story goes that Paul Marks ran an incubator in Palo Alto, where he mentored young innovators in tech during the dot-com boom.

However, Paul stepped away once his aerospace division started gaining attention. A former Stanford student claims that they have written a code that evolved into the data analytics system that Paul Marks sells to governments around the world.

Paul Marks bought this billion-dollar idea just for 50 grand. He stole it from that student by making them sign an NDA. According to the concept of the NDA, one person wins and the other is silenced.
