Plot summary

Sonic Prime season 2 begins with the blue hedgehog blasting off into the void that exists between the Shatterverses. Before he can enter another portal, Shadow the Hedgehog stops him and gives him a good beating.

He tells him how he got stuck in the void and then decides to take matters into his own hands, snatching away Sonic’s gloves and tech that Nine created, only to fail to enter any portal. The two then come to an agreement to work together.

The Chaos Council arrive at Boscage Maze and Sonic battles them out for the shard. The council ends up seizing the prism shard. Next up is the battle for the No Space Prism shard, and Sonic is helped by his pirate besties along with Rusty Rose who changes loyalty after the council ditches her.

Dread, in his unquenchable lust for the prism, his blue treasure, used dirty tricks to turn his crew against Sonic, but he eventually manages to gain their trust, even as he loses the shard to the council later on. The Chaos Council return to New Yoke City and chart their upcoming path.

Sonic follows and aids the rebels’ fight against the council, but meets his match in Chaos Sonic until Nine helps him out. The two steal all the shards and take off for the void, successfully pulling it off. Along with Shadow, they enter Ghost Hill.

The council follows too and leaves no stones unturned to retrieve the shards as Nine works on reassembling the shards. However, his objective isn’t to complete the Paradox Prism but to create something anew. As he departs, the second season comes to an end.

Sonic Prime season 2 ending explained in detail:

What is Ghost Hill?

Ghost Hill is one of the shatterspaces in Sonic Prime. It’s also the blueprint for Green Hill, Sonic’s home. However, when the Paradox Prism shattered, all the other Shatterspaces emerged but Green Hill didn’t get formed properly.

Nine explains Ghost Hill is like an embryonic Shatterspace that got stuck in the blueprint phase while forming. The Shatterspace is also the place where the blueprint of the Paradox Prism is located, with all the shards of it but one missing.

This is also where all the shards must be brought to and reassembled into the original Paradox Prism. However, Nine refuses to do that after working the blueprint out, figuring out how it works.

What does Nine do in the end?

Sonic works hard to free Nine and take him to Ghost Hill, where the blueprint for the Paradox Prism exists. Nine is a sharp guy with all the intellectual prowess to calibrate all the shards and reassemble the big prism.

He does so as well, although only up till learning how the shards fit into their places. He does so by studying the impression of the prism as a blueprint on Ghost Hill. When he’s done, Sonic Prime comes and asks why Green Hill hasn’t been revived yet.

That’s when Nine reveals that he never wanted to rebuild Green Hill but uses the information he’s collected here to go rebuild Grim, to start a clean slate instead of an older one. He also believes that rebuilding Green Hill would bring Sonic’s friends back which would sideline him again.

Sonic Prime season 2 ends with Nine taking all the shards and entering a portal back to Grim, telling the blue hedgehog that he only trusts himself.
