Shin Yoon-bok travels to Seoul on a mission, and he runs into Kim Hong-do. The two of them have a shared past.
When Shin Yoon-bok and Oh Yun-a first arrive in Seoul, Yoon-bok mentions that he has a friend he can contact about accommodation.
He then runs into Kim Hong-do outside Seongsan-kwan and helps her get home because she is too drunk.
They cross paths again the next day as Yoon-bok gives Hong-do a bouquet. During her drunken rant, she told him that getting her one would make things better.
Seeing him up close helps her realize that Yoon-bok was her student at an academy which she thought for a brief time.
A life-changing mentor
When Yoon-bok was younger, he ran away from Seongsan village and joined an academy to broaden his horizons.
Students and teachers alike made fun of him for being different, and Hong-do was the only one who treated him with kindness and gave him the confidence he needed to excel.
He also became good friends with Kim Hong-hak, Hong-do’s younger brother. He suggested the house next to theirs for Yoon-bok to stay at while he was in Seoul.
He calls her Master Kim and holds her in high regard because she was his teacher and imparted great wisdom to him.
