Sahei: Onimusha character explained

Sahei is one of Kensuke Matsuki’s disciples who appears to be the smartest of the group and survives the journey to the Golden Palace. The character is voiced by Daiki Yamashita.

Sahei is part of the group sent to stop Lemon’s uprising and he is the medic of the group. When Kaizen joins the journey, Sahei is the one given the responsibility of getting him up to speed and ensuring that he is safe.

Sahei is shown to be quite knowledgeable and possesses a calm head on his shoulders. While Goro Maru and Heikuro fight off the zombies in the village, Sahei along with Kaizen helps Musashi set up the trap to blow them up using the gunpowder.

Sahei explains that he studied pharmacology because he is interested in herbs that can help people, but he is still quite a dept with the bow and arrow.

Showing his true colors

When Sayo falls ill, Sahei heads out into the forest to gather herbs and prepare something to make her better. When Kaizen sacrifices himself to save Sayo, Sahei takes on the responsibility of ensuring that his sacrifice is not in vain.

He is the last one of Kensuke’s disciples to survive their journey and Lemon says that it couldn’t be anyone else because Sahei proved to be the only one who could beat Lemon in a game of wits when they trained together.

Musashi tells Sahei to take Sayo and escape while he battles Kojiro, so they make their way outside. They come across Lemon’s private quarters and Sahei sees Lemon there without any of his limbs after Kojiro sliced them off.

Lemon tells his brother that he needs to turn into a Genma if he wants to survive and promises Sahei dominion over half the world if he helps. Sahei picks up Lemon and takes him to the lab while Sayo tries to stop him.

But then Sahei smothers Lemon and kills him. He reveals that he was entrusted with a mission to eliminate all evidence of the mine, which meant killing all witnesses.

Sahei managed to fool everyone about his true nature

He tells Sayo that he is supposed to kill her, but chooses not to and lets her go. When Musashi exposed Kensuke and Gensai, he said that there were 3 bad people among the 7 samurai, but one of those bad people was not a traitor.

Sahei admits that Musashi must have been referring to him when he said that because of his secret. The last time Sahei is seen, he is walking through the mine as it collapses on top of him.
