Ending explained:
Rick Prime perishes
In episode 5 of Rick and Morty season 7, Rick C-137 tracks down Rick Prime with the help of an unlikely ally.
Before he can get closer to his arch-nemesis, though, he has to contend with the many traps alongside Morty and his evil version.
He throws hands with Prime, who has the upper hand until Rick’s aid comes to tip the balance in his favor.
He gets his hand bloodied as he kills Rick Prime, but he still feels empty inside having finished the one thing that had driven his life up until that point.
Evil Morty’s return
Evil Morty kicks back and relaxes in the bliss that his freedom outside the Central Finite Curve offers him. However, Rick’s search for Rick Prime sends waves across the curve and disturbs Evil Morty’s peace.
He is forced to go and find out what is happening. He has no choice but to help Rick defeat Rick Prime. He does so with his classic dejected and nonchalant attitude.
Finally, when Rick has had his revenge, he warns him and his grandson to never disturb his peace again, as he portals to his home.
Diane’s dark fate
Diane was killed by Rick Prime in an event that etched the canon of this story. It pushed Rick C-137 to invent portal travel and go on the multiversal hunt for Rick Prime.
Gradually, he became who the viewers know him as. It is during his final confrontation with his arch nemesis that Prime reveals how his wife Diane was not just killed in one universe but in all of them.
This made his evil deed a new kind of evil and left Rick C-137 with that much more helpless a fate that he must suffer from.
