Quarren: The Mandalorian season 3 characters explained

The Quarren are a race of aliens that make a brief appearance in The Mandalorian, although they have appeared before in the Star Wars franchise.

The Quarren are an amphibious humanoid species hailing from the planet Dac, also known as Mon Cala, and they also have cephalopod-like characteristics and squid-like heads.

Bo-Katan and her allies saved Din Djarin when he was attacked by some Quarren boatmen who were after the Mandalorian’s beskar armor. The Quarren people shared their planet with the Mon Calamari but they held a strong feeling of hatred for their fellow inhabitants.

The species was more isolationist and conservative and had no interest in traveling the galaxy. They reluctantly maintained an alliance with the Mon Calamari for the sake of the cultural and evolutionary growth of their species.

There is a long history of war and conflict between the Quarren and the Mon Calamari with the Jedi and the Republic siding with Mon Calamari during one such conflict in the midst of the Clone Wars. The Quarren sided with the separatists in that very conflict.

Retrieving a bounty

A small crew of Quarrens is traveling aboard a freighter to the Mid Rim when they are intercepted by an Imperial ship. While trying to negotiate with the ship, they learn that it is led by Axe Woves, supported by a small army of Mandalorians.

They claim to be privateers and let the Quarren captain know that they were tasked with seeking her out specifically. They were hired by the Mon Calamari Viceroy who accused the Quarren of kidnapping her son.

The captain denies this accusation pointing to the fact that they are at peace with the Mon Calamari and she would do nothing to jeopardize that peace but Woves tells her that he knows this is not a case of politics but a case of love.

Right then, the Viceroy’s son rushes onto the bridge and tells the captain that he does not wish to go back to the palace because he is in love with her. She brushes him off and tells him to go with the Mandalorians to preserve the lives of herself and her crew.
