Prince Henry: Damsel character explained

Elodie marries the charming Prince Henry of Aurea, only to be betrayed by him. In Damsel, Nick Robinson plays Prince Henry.

When Lord Bayford informs Elodie that Queen Isabella has asked for her hand in marriage to her son, Prince Henry, Elodie is reluctant to agree to the proposal.

The kingdom of Aurea is extremely wealthy, but Elodie does not think that wealth alone is reason enough to marry a stranger.

However, when she learns that marrying him would save her people from starvation, she agrees to marry him.

Getting to know Elodie

Similar to Elodie, Henry agrees to marry Elodie for the sake of his kingdom, as the royal family needs to make sacrifices to the dragon.

Instead of offering their own daughters, they have their princes marry three women, who are made of royal blood, and sacrifice them to the dragon.

Elodie is Henry’s second bride, which makes her the second sacrifice. Knowing she will be sacrificed soon after their wedding, Henry has no intention of getting to know her.

However, Elodie, unaware that she is just a sacrifice, tries to get to know Henry. Surprisingly, Henry finds himself getting along with Elodie.

Elodie is nothing like the way she sounded in her flowery letter to him. She admits without hesitation that she is marrying him for the sake of her people.

In their first meeting, she seems to understand how tiring his life as a prince is and takes him out to spend some quality time together away from the guards.

Henry ends up sharing his dreams with her, expressing his desire to travel the world, which happens to be Elodie’s dream as well.

Elodie begins to trust Henry after their first meeting goes so well and decides to marry him, despite her stepmother’s warnings.

Henry’s betrayal and its consequences

Henry sacrifices Elodie to the dragon, leaving her to die, but Elodie manages to escape, leading to Queen Isabella kidnapping her sister, Floria.

Henry is not as cruel as his mother and refuses to help her in sacrificing Floria, as she is just a child, but he fails to stop his mother.

Once Floria is sacrificed, Henry prepares for his third marriage to fulfill his duties as a prince, but Elodie interrupts the wedding.

Henry, still interested in Elodie, explains that after the third sacrifice, he will be free to marry the person of his choice.

However, Elodie has no intention of marrying him again. She brings the dragon to the palace and gives the royals one last chance to flee.

Henry decides to stay and face the consequences of his and his family’s actions. He accepts his fate and makes no move to escape as the dragon burns down the palace.
