Netflix’s The Brothers Sun wraps up its first season on a happy note for the major characters, but a post-credits scene entails a hint for what’s to come in the next installment(s).
The ending of The Brothers Sun sees Eileen and Charles head for Taipei, Taiwan, where she intends to take over Jade Dragons, reshape it in her image, and make it smarter and more legitimate.
Meanwhile, Charles seeks the company of his mother and wishes to help her with the gargantuan task ahead while also making up for all the time he never got to spend with her.
Bruce, on the other hand, drives away his green Lamborghini, doing a shoddy job at it, into the sunset. He’s ready to be his own man, stand on his own two feet, and make something of his life.
However, their happy endings are bound to last only for a short spell as trouble lies ahead in the next chapters of The Brothers Sun.
Post-credits peek
Yuan, the number 2 and right-hand man of the Big Sun, meets who can only be an attorney, to discuss the state of affairs regarding the future of Big Sun.
He’s been arrested and is currently hospitalized, with his medical chart altered by Eileen so that he’s regularly injected with insulin and kept bedridden.
To make a real case against him, the prosecution needs the testimony of Frank Ma, another Triad head.
He had made a deal with Deputy DA Alexis Kong to testify against Big Sun if the Jade Dragon head is arrested as well and he’s given immunity and a safe passage to Taipei.
This is why the prosecution deems Frank Ma such a crucial asset, which is also why the prosecution has him hidden away.
Yuan confirms that the case relies solely on Ma’s testimony and that without him, they have nothing.
Yuan does not seem to be deterred or discouraged by the fact that so much effort has been put into preventing anyone from finding Frank Ma before the trial.
Yuan puts on his glasses and simply sneers at the statement that Ma is inaccessible.
What awaits The Brothers Sun
This hints at Yuan mobilizing Big Sun’s Jade Dragon loyalists to sniff out Frank Ma and possibly retire him before he ever makes it to the court to testify.
Yuan is the right-hand man of Big Sun and is shown to be a trusted and rather clever member of the triad.
He’s the one who kind of takes over the operations in Taipei after sending Charles to LA, to protect Eileen and Bruce from the Boxers.
Big Sun is bedridden at the hospital but he’s not dead yet. Just as Eileen and Charles, as well as Bruce’s stories, are not over yet, Big Sun’s story isn’t quite finished yet either.
With a formidable force like Yuan by his side, he’s bound to retaliate and lunge for the top spot of the empire he loves more than anything and anyone, including his family.
