On Woo-ju’s life becomes closely intertwined with Ki-baek’s after an accident on set. In Frankly Speaking, Kang Han-na plays Woo-ju.
On Woo-ju is a variety show writer who works on a show called Men on the Run. She asks Ki-baek to appear on the show after he guest hosts a radio show.
Ki-baek reluctantly agrees at his boss’s insistence. He then ends up targeting a famous celebrity, PN, during a game of dodgeball on the set of Men on the Run.
Furthermore, Ki-baek gets electrocuted and develops a condition called disinhibition. Due to this condition, he cannot keep his thoughts to himself.
However, as Woo-ju was the only person with him when the accident occurred, she becomes a sort of switch for him, enabling him to turn his condition on and off.
A major setback
Unlike Ki-baek, who is polite and demure, Woo-ju speaks her mind and stands up for herself when necessary.
Woo-ju is the head writer on her show not only because she is hard-working but also because she has an eye for new variety show stars.
However, picking Ki-baek initially turns out to be a mistake. Ki-baek assaults PN after getting electrocuted, which leads to PN leaving the show.
PN brought in advertisers, and his fans sent free gifts, so his departure significantly impacts Woo-ju’s show.
She tries to salvage the situation by apologizing to PN, but to no avail. As a result, Woo-ju’s show gets canceled.
Now, she has to start from scratch to develop a premise for a successful new variety show.
New beginnings
Woo-ju tries to stay optimistic even when things look bleak for her and her team. Everyone starts believing that Woo-ju has lost her touch.
Woo-ju’s boss brings in a writer named Ha-young, who has a history with Woo-ju, to work on the show because she no longer has confidence in Woo-ju.
Ha-young is being paid more than Woo-ju, even though Woo-ju is the head writer. Additionally, even Woo-ju’s team comes to doubt her ideas.
To make her show a success, Woo-ju has no choice but to accept the help of her ex-boyfriend, Kim Jeong-hon, one of the most sought-after stars.
At the same time, she finds out that Ki-baek is struggling because he cannot keep his thoughts to himself.
Feeling responsible for his condition, she takes him to a doctor and offers him support when he needs it the most.
She also learns that Ki-baek is the son of her tenants and has moved back in with his parents. Woo-ju and Ki-baek now live in the same house.
The two of them confide in and find comfort in each other during the lowest points in their lives. After one such evening with Ki-baek, Woo-ju gets an idea for her new show.
She decides to cast Ki-baek, who is currently unemployed and needs Woo-ju to help him manage his condition.
While everyone expects Woo-ju’s show to fail, Ki-baek’s unfiltered thoughts might make it a success.
