Do-hee finds herself in conflict with Noh Suk-min, Madam Ju’s son, when she inherits the Mirae Group from Madam Ju. In My Demon, Kim Tae-hoon plays Noh Suk-min.
As Madam Ju’s oldest son, Noh Suk-min expects to inherit the Mirae Group from his mother. However, instead of her children, Madam Ju leaves the company to Do Do-hee.
Madam Ju knew her son better than anyone. She was well aware that she could not raise her son to be good and kind, and she died with that regret.
Refusing to let a depraved man like Suk-min acquire the power that comes with being the chairperson of the Mirae Group, Madam Ju named Do-hee as her heir in her will.
A strained relationship
Madam Ju tried to make her children good people by holding them accountable for their actions. She was stern with them when it was necessary.
12 years ago, when Suk-min got drunk and ran someone over, Madam Ju did not let him get away with it. She wanted him to be punished for his crime, so she let him go to prison.
However, prison did not bring about a change in Suk-min, and Madam Ju realized that she failed to make her son a better person.
There was no love lost between Suk-min and his mother. Madam Ju’s death does not affect Suk-min, but the fact that she left everything to Do-hee enrages him.
Suk-min believes that leading the Mirae Group is his birthright. Legally, he cannot do anything, but he has no qualms about resorting to underhanded methods to stop Do-hee from taking away his birthright.
How far will Suk-min go?
Before her death, Madam Ju had formed an audit team after discovering a financial fraud. This team was disbanded as soon as she died.
It is revealed that Suk-min was the one behind the disbanding of the audit team; the board of directors disbanded it on his orders. In return, they received bribes from a subcontractor.
Suk-min then threatens to accuse them of accepting bribes for disbanding the audit team if they elect Do-hee and not him as the acting chairperson.
Suk-min does not stop there. When Do-hee gets married to assume the position of chairperson, he runs a smear campaign against her.
Do-hee is accused of killing Madam Ju, which damages her public image. As a result, Suk-min’s chances of being elected as the chairperson increase.
Then, the attempt on Gu-won’s life compels Do-hee to decline the position of chairperson. She also chooses to renounce her inheritance.
Do-hee’s decision to back out leaves Suk-min as the only candidate for the position, and Suk-min celebrates; he finally gets what he wanted all along.
It turns out that he killed his own mother when she discovered his financial fraud. Furthermore, he was behind the attacks on Do-hee and Gu-won.
Ultimately, it was these attacks that persuaded Do-hee to give up the position of chairperson as well as her inheritance.
He disposes of Do-hee’s attacker the moment he becomes a liability. He abuses his own son and forces him to finish Do-hee’s attacker’s job.
Furthermore, he makes him take the blame for Madam Ju’s death and the attempts on Do-hee’s life, which results in Do-gyeong taking his life.
Suk-min is a man who does not hesitate to kill those who stand in the way of him getting what he wants, even if the people standing in his way are his family.
