Mrs. Nawol is Tae-sang’s employee who manages his business in his absence. In Gyeongseong Creature, Kim Hae-sook plays Mrs. Nawol.
Mrs. Nawol works for Tae-sang, and he trusts her enough to let her enter the vault that contains all the riches of the House of Golden Treasure.
Mrs. Nawol helps in running Tae-sang’s pawn shop and ensures that his business runs smoothly.
Mrs. Nawol’s painful past
When Tae-sang was a child, the Japanese arrested his mother, who was a rebel. They took her to get her to disclose information about her operations through torture.
Tae-sang’s mother never returned. While waiting for her to get released, he met Mrs. Nawol, who was released after being tortured by the Japanese.
Tae-sang showed her kindness by giving her water and his food. He also asked her whether she saw his mother in prison.
Although Mrs. Nawol claimed not to know anything about his mother, her reaction to hearing her name said otherwise.
Tae-sang instantly figures out that Mrs. Nawol was the one who betrayed his mother by telling the Japanese about her involvement in the freedom struggle.
Tae-sang also understands that she was forced to do it; she did not have much of a choice. He does not blame her for his mother’s death. He takes her in and gives her a place to call home.
Years later, Mrs. Nawol tells Mr. Gu that when a person is tortured, they stop thinking about their friends and family.
They do whatever they are told to do, even if that means betraying the people closest to them. As she has been through that experience, she does not trust anyone.
She advises Mr. Gu to not be a hero if he is captured and tortured. She even assures him that if he betrays her, she will not hate him for it.
A trusted employee
As Mrs. Nawol has known Tae-sang since he was a young boy, she is like his family. She knows him inside out, and he shares all his troubles with her.
Tae-sang trusts Mrs. Nawol, who worries about him whenever he is in trouble and is always ready to protect him.
When Tae-sang goes to the hospital and gets caught, he asks Soma to contact Mrs. Nawol and inform her about his plan to save the prisoners.
Mrs. Nawol is a smart woman who makes sure that Tae-sang’s orders are followed in his absence. She works with Jun-taek’s father and plays a crucial role in getting the prisoners to safety.
In contrast to everyone else, she is not surprised that Tae-sang chose to sacrifice himself to save the prisoners. Mrs. Nawol knows better than anyone that he is a good person who always helps his people.
