Nata is one of Alma’s best friends, but their friendship suffers because of Nata’s relationship with Alberto. In Raising Voices, Aicha Villaverde plays Nata.
Nata is friends with Alma and Greta, but because Alma and Greta have known each other for a longer time, Nata often feels left out.
Additionally, Alma and Greta do not approve of Nata’s relationship with Alberto, the chauvinistic captain of the soccer team.
Despite having frequent fights with Alberto and his disrespect towards Alma, Nata chooses to stay with him.
Vandalizing houses
Nata comes from a wealthy family with snobbish parents. Her mother is extremely concerned about Nata’s perfect grades and appearance.
Her mother never understands her. Instead, she pressures Nata to maintain appearances, even at the expense of Nata’s happiness.
Nata’s boyfriend does not make her happy. He consistently disappoints her, does not care about her feelings, and fails to satisfy her sexually.
Nata, having grown up in a stifling environment, only experiences sexual satisfaction with him after vandalizing empty houses and sleeping with him.
However, Alberto betrays her trust by telling his friends about it. His friends unexpectedly show up at the house Nata and Alberto plan to vandalize.
They try to sexually assault Nata, and Alberto does nothing to stop them. Nata is saved by the arrival of the police.
She gets away from Alberto’s friends and the police, but her mother finds out about her breaking into houses, and Nata has to face the consequences.
Nata and Alma’s friendship
Nata shares a complicated relationship with Alma. She tries her best to help Alma with her grades and defends Alma when Alberto insults her.
However, there are also times when Nata lets Alberto insult Alma, especially when she herself is angry with Alma.
Even when Alberto’s friends threaten Alma, Nata does not take the incident seriously. Nata realizes just how dangerous his friends are when they try to assault her.
Alma wants Nata to report Alberto and his friends, but Nata refuses to take action, fearing that people would think the worst of her.
However, she finally breaks up with Alberto, but it does not last long, as Nata’s mother convinces her to ignore Alberto’s flaws, suggesting that he is an attractive catch.
Furthermore, Alberto begs for her forgiveness and pretends to change because he is scared of Nata reporting him, which would ruin his future plans.
Nata’s reconciliation with Alberto leads to a fight between her and Alma, who tries unsuccessfully to convince Nata that Alberto’s actions are unforgivable.
Soon after, Alberto posts compromising pictures of Alma on social media that were taken by Nata from his fake account, leading to Alma being bullied at school.
Alma, believing that Nata provided the pictures to Alberto, decides to end her friendship with Nata, but not without informing her that Alberto has been sending her pornographic pictures.
Nata, angry with Alma, snitches on her, recognizing that Alma is Coleman Miller and informing the faculty about it.
Eventually, Nata realizes that Alma was right about Alberto all along. She then decides to openly defy rules without fear of judgment for the first time in her life.
When Alma organizes a protest against their history teacher, who is sexually assaulting young girls, Nata is inspired by Alma’s bravery and joins the protest.
This time, Nata ends her relationship with Alberto for good, informing him that she plans to report him for harassing Alma to jeopardize his future plans.
