In Destined with You, Hong-jo’s stalker, Na Jung-beom, the garden owner, goes to extreme lengths to separate Hong-jo and Sin-yu. Ahn Sang-woo plays Na Jung-beom.
As Hong-jo is part of the Greenway Building Division, she works closely with a garden owner named Na Jung-beom. One day, Hong-jo forgets to take the tumbler that has the love potion home with her, and Na Jung-beom finds it.
Na Jung-beom drinks the love potion and starts believing that he is in love with Hong-jo. He pursues Hong-jo, but when she rejects his advances, his love turns into an obsession that hurts Hong-jo and Sin-yu.
Stalking and cursing
Na Jung-beom tells Hong-jo about his wife and how he started his flower garden with her. Hong-jo shows him kindness when he tells her that he lost his wife and offers to lend him an ear whenever he misses her.
Na Jung-beom takes Hong-jo’s kindness for romantic love and pursues her. Hong-jo refuses to go on a date with him, but Na Jung-beom does not leave her alone until Sin-yu comes to her rescue. This leads Na Jung-beom to believe that Sin-yu’s arrival changed Hong-jo’s feelings for him.
Na Jung-beom then starts stalking Hong-jo. He witnesses Hong-jo and Sin-yu grow closer and enlists Na-yeon’s help to separate them. Hong-jo and Sin-yu find out that someone has been following them and taking their photographs, which worries them.
Apart from stalking them, Na Jung-beom also curses them more than once using their clothes. He either steals their clothes or gets Na-yeon to bring them to him. He also gets Na-yeon to send a cursed plant to Sin-yu’s office to separate him and Hong-jo.
His plan works. When Hong-jo and Sin-yu start dating, the Red Hand haunts Sin-yu again. Hong-jo remembers her past life and tries to protect Sin-yu from the curse that she placed on him in her past life by breaking up with him.
A dangerous killer
Sin-yu suspects Na Jung-beom of stalking Hong-jo. When he finds out that Na Jung-beom, who gets hired for all the City Hall events, has been skimming money from the Greenway Building Division, he meets Mr. Gong to talk about the garden owner.
Mr. Gong tells Sin-yu that Na Jung-beom’s wife disappeared five years ago, and it was rumored that he killed his wife. He was acquitted of all charges, but it was not easy to quell the rumors. Due to that, Na Jung-beom started drinking a lot.
Mr. Gong’s then-team manager pitied Na Jung-beom and decided to give him a lot of work to help him out. Since then, Na Jung-beom has been getting hired for all the City Hall events.
Soon after, a tree dies in a park, and when it is uprooted, a body is found buried there. Sin-yu suspects that it is Na Jung-beom’s body, as she disappeared when the park was being built and Na Jung-beom took part in the construction.
As Sin-yu had suspected, the body turns out to be that of Na Jung-beom’s wife. He is arrested by the police, but they later let him go, and he starts stalking Hong-jo again. Sin-yu comes to know about the cursed plant and that Na Jung-beom is working with Na-yeon. He then gets rid of the cursed plant.
Meanwhile, Na Jung-beom gets bolder and attacks Hong-jo when Jae-gyeong is not home. The police arrive in time, and Na Jung-beom runs away. However, on the same day, he follows Hong-jo and Sin-yu to Sin-yu’s house and stabs Sin-yu. He believes that once Sin-yu is out of the picture, he will be able to win Hong-jo’s love.
It is also revealed that Na Jung-beom knew Sin-yu and Hong-jo in his past life. He was the loyal servant of the king’s concubine, who made Hong-jo cast spells for her. He joined hands with the king’s soldiers to catch Hong-jo in order to get the spell book that she had written.
In his present life, Na Jung-beom fails to separate Hong-jo and Sin-yu once again. Sin-yu survives and recovers. In fact, Na Jung-beom’s attack also breaks the curse that has been haunting Sin-yu for killing Hong-jo in his past life and brings the couple closer.
