Mia: Extraction 2 character explained

In Extraction 2, Mia is the ex-wife of Tyler Rake. She sends a mysterious man to Tyler to assign him the job of rescuing her sister. Olga Kurylenko plays Mia.

Tyler and Mia have drifted apart since losing their son. However, to rescue her sister, Ketevan, and her kids from the clutches of Ketevan’s husband, Davit, and the prison they are kept in, Mia needed someone like Tyler.

Hence, Mia sends a man to Tyler and hires him for the job of breaking Ketevan and her kids out of Tkachiri Prison, where two gangs have been fighting against each other.

The fallout between Mia and Tyler

In Extraction (2020), Tyler mentions what happened to his son. He died of lymphoma when he was six years old. Tyler wasn’t there with his son when he died, and to this day, he regrets it.

Tyler needed to be in Kandahar, Afghanistan, for his job. Tyler admits that he had a choice and decided to leave because he didn’t have the courage to watch his son in this state. Tyler likes to think he isn’t as brave as he looks.

Mia returns and reunites with Tyler and her sister when Tyler’s team takes shelter at his cabin. It turns out that Tyler and Mia never had a real conversation about their son’s loss.

Tyler tries to express his guilt; however, all Mia wants is the reason why he didn’t stay. Tyler attempts to explain that he was called, but he eventually blurts out the truth. He left because he was not able to do anything for his son.

Do Mia and Tyler end up together?

After killing Zurab once and for all, Tyler and Nik are arrested. Mia visits Tyler in prison and shares that she has managed to help her sister cut a deal with the Americans.

Mia is thankful for Tyler’s help. Before leaving, she lets him know that his son’s last image of Tyler wasn’t of his father walking out on him; he saw his father going out to save people.

Tyler’s son said he wanted to be brave like his father in his last moments. Tyler breaks down upon hearing these words. Mia then says her goodbyes, hinting that they are parting ways again.
