Mephisto III is one of the main characters and the partner of the titular protagonist in Netflix’s horror fantasy anime, Akuma Kun. The character is voiced by
The second incarnation of Akuma Kun was abandoned by humans and demons as a child. Then one very sinister demon raised him until he abandoned him too. Consequently, he exhibits a colder persona and one who doesn’t seem very human.
For all his logically stoic ramblings that have little care for social decorum and others’ feelings, there is a counteracting warmth of his partner, Mephisto III.
The build
Mephisto III is the son of Mephisto II and is a half-human and half-demon. His father is a demon and his mother is a human. As a result, he has the powers of a demon, although they’re restrained because of his half-human self.
With a little horn on the head that protrudes further when he uses his powers, Mephistopheles III has a flair for the dramatic, evident from his suit-up theatrics. he carries a magical wand and sports a cap, very much identical to his father.
His powers and attacks are near-identical to his father’s as well, albeit more in terms of the mechanics and effects than their potency. Regardless, his powers come in very handy while getting Akuma Kun out of trouble and rather dire situations.
The banter
Mephisto III is almost the mirror image of Akuma Kun. While the latter use cold, calculated, anti-social, and logical, the half-human-half-demon partner is warm, respectful, empathetic, and courteous, among other things.
Akuma Kun and Mephistopheles III run the Millenarianism Research Institute together, which is sort of a detective agency, but one that deals in supernatural and demonic cases.
Akuma Kun has a habit of disregarding normal courtesy, decorum, and other such things expected in a social interaction. Whenever he does something that’s inappropriate, Mephisto III is there to call him out on it.
He is caring of Akuma but also very frustrated by him, which is mostly just a reflection of his concern for him.
