In The Morning Show season 3, Martha is Cory’s mother, who is also a political strategist. Lindsay Duncan plays Martha.
Martha is a renowned political strategist who consults with big names and politicians. She has worked as Geraldine Ferraro’s press secretary and has connections to the DOJ.
Martha and Cory don’t share a great relationship. Cory, especially, tends to keep her away from himself. She often compares him to his father and hates that her son doesn’t like spending time with her.
Martha meddles with UBA’s deal
Cory is asked to stop Martha when she keeps calling the Justice Department every day regarding the Paul Marks deal. Cory knows he can’t handle his own mother on call and needs to visit her.
In order to make sure that she is on her best behavior, Cory asks Bradley to tag along. Anyhow, Martha figures out why Cory has brought Bradley along and sees through his lies.
Martha keeps causing trouble by getting upset over little things. Cory and Bradley have to spend the day with her to satisfy her and finally convince her to stop making calls to DOJ on behalf of UBA.
Martha was doing it out of concern, considering that Hyperion is a big tech company that is going to swallow a legacy media company. To top that, Paul Marks has a lot of government contracts. Certainly, the DOJ is going to scrutinize the deal.

However, her involvement might put UBA under review. Cory’s request to stop making those calls upsets Martha. She just wanted to meet Cory, who hardly visits her, by getting involved here.
Even though Cory sings with her to calm her down, she accuses Cory of putting on an act. She advises Bradley to stay away from Cory and asks them to leave.
