Lyna: Furies (2024) character explained

Lyna, played by Lina El Arabi, is the protagonist in Furies (2024). She is recruited by Selma to become the next Fury.

Lyna is an average college student who maintains a distance from her family because they are all criminals. Her father is an accountant for the Parisian underworld.

Lyna’s entire life changes when her father is killed on one of her birthdays. Lyna is arrested for the €2 million that her father sent to her in her bank account as a gift.

Lyna learns that the Fury is possibly responsible for her father’s death, but the cops won’t be diving deep into this case, as the Fury is considered to be a myth.

Moving forward, Lyna decides to avenge her father. She spends all of her time in prison training herself, and with information from the Shark, a big shot inside prison, Lyna sets out to hunt the Fury down when she is released.

Learning the truth about her family

Lyna realizes that she has followed all the steps the Fury expected her to. The Fury, Selma, sent the Shark inside the prison and made Lyna come to her.

It is revealed that Lyna is Selma’s niece. The Guerrabs, who raised Lyna, are not Lyna’s real parents. Selma tells her that her real parents died in an accident.

However, Orso tells Lyna the truth. Lyna’s father, Driss Arago, schemed against the Godfathers, and the Fury possibly took him out.

Once Lyna learns the truth about her father, she confronts Selma, who confesses that she has kept her father hidden.

Lyna meets her real father

Lyna tracks her father down. Her father, Driss, turns out to be the person who murdered the Guerrabs, Lyna’s fake parents, and is plotting against the Godfathers.

Choosing sides, breaking ties, and a secret

Lyna’s father, Driss, wants Lyna to side with him. He is willing to let Lyna be whoever she wants, unlike Selma, who has forced Lyna to follow in her footsteps and become a Fury.

Lyna ultimately chooses to side with Selma and defeat her father in the end. Lyna will be following Selma and finding her mother, Kahina, unaware that Selma is hiding the truth from her.

Lyna sees her father, Driss, as the villain, when the truth is that Selma painted him to be the villain.

Lyna’s mother, Kahina, was an undercover cop. She infiltrated the underworld and married Driss. It was an embarrassment for the Fury that all of this happened under her nose.

Selma massacred Kahina’s whole family and told Lyna that Driss had done it. She had plans to kill Driss too, but she wasn’t able to do so back then. Hence, she hid him and lied to the Godfathers as well.

Selma keeps this from Lyna, who plans to find her mother. Following Selma’s orders, Lyna bids goodbye to her boyfriend, Elie, and the mother who raised her. If Lyna finds out about the truth, things may drastically change between Selma and Lyna.
