Ko Won, a K-pop idol, ends up discovering Lee Mi-jin’s secret. In Miss Night and Day, Baek Seo-hoo plays Ko Won.
Ko Won is a member of a popular band called King Land and earns the most out of all the members. Ko Won is extremely popular and has a huge fan following, making him a leading commercial star.
All of his projects, even the shows in which his performance was lacking, were successful. However, Ko Won’s life changes when he suddenly becomes involved in a scandal.
Ko Won becomes a public servant
Ko Won suffers from anxiety and takes sleeping pills. He sent someone else to get those pills for him, leading to his getting caught.
When the case becomes public, Ko Won faces a scandal, which is made worse by his lack of remorse in the media. His case is handled by Gye Ji-ung, who shows him no mercy.
Ko Won’s management then decides to get him out of the spotlight for a while, leading to his enlisting for mandatory military service.
However, due to a previous back injury sustained during a concert, he is assigned to public service instead. Ko Won is sent to work at the Seohan District Prosecutors’ Office.
Although Ko Won finds himself in a small town, his life there is not as peaceful as he had expected. Shortly after joining, he is attacked outside his workplace.
Fortunately, Mi-jin, who works there as Lim Sun, comes to his rescue. Ko Won later tries to thank her with expensive gifts for risking her life to save him.
She returns all his gifts and allows him only to buy her a cup of coffee each day as a token of his gratitude.
Ko Won falls in love with his friend
While Ko Won is physically unharmed, the acid attack mentally impacts him. He starts fearing strangers at work and often turns to medication to manage his anxiety.
One day, Lim Sun finds him in the middle of a panic attack. She does not judge him for taking medication nor does she comfort him, which is the last thing Ko Won wants from anyone.
She simply gives him candies to replace his vitamins, leading to him throwing away his medicines. Ko Won later thanks her for not giving unsolicited advice.
Lim Sun’s kindness results in an unlikely friendship between them. Ko Won, who initially wanted to move, no longer wishes to leave the town.
Due to her influence, he also starts working on his music. The more time he spends with her, the more inspired he becomes to make music.
One day, Ko Won sees Lim Sun, who is a woman in her fifties, returning home from work. As the sun sets, a young girl, Mi-jin, appears in Lim Sun’s place.
Ko Won grows suspicious and starts investigating. He follows Lim Sun into a gaming cafe, where she transforms into Mi-jin.
While he does not see her transform, he notices the same scar on Mi-jin’s leg that he had seen on Lim Sun’s leg and realizes that they are the same person.
To confirm his theory, he spends a night outside Mi-jin’s house and witnesses her transformation. Then, at a company dinner, Ko Won accidentally drugs Mi-jin.
When Mi-jin is drugged, Ko Won hides her and ensures that her secret does not get revealed. He then helps Mi-jin solve the mystery behind her transformation.
Additionally, Ko Won convinces the Chief Prosecutor to make him his secretary to protect Mi-jin and her secret at work, which is now his priority.
Over time, Ko Won develops feelings for Mi-jin. However, he might face heartbreak, as Mi-jin, who likes Ji-ung, does not reciprocate his feelings.
