Plot summary

Swathi has long been asking her husband, Prabhu, Prabhakar Shetty, the owner of Last Resort Constructions, for a restaurant.

However, waiting is all she has been doing, while Prabhu is more busy with his work. Though Swathi knows her cooking skills are not apt, she keeps dreaming about having a restaurant of her own.

When Prabhu is not there for her, she finds solace in spending time with Umesh Pillai, her husband’s masseur.

Prabhu, who has stolen money from his own brother, Arvind Shetty, asks Arvind to invest in his new resort.

Arvind has lost faith in Prabhu since offering him numerous chances. Hence, he doesn’t invest in Prabhu’s business.

Meanwhile, Swathi is followed by a private investigator who captures her intimate moments with Umesh.

Umesh pitches to Swathi that they should run away together to Madurai. Prabhu comes home earlier that night and catches Swathi and Umesh together.

Umesh hits Prabhu, who dies moments later. With a murder on their hands, Umesh thinks that they should run away while they have a chance.

However, Swathi, who was promised her restaurant by her husband before his death, sees how much Umesh and Prabhu look alike.

The cops have gotten involved too, as they are investigating the death of the private investigator who was following Swathi.

The private investigator got caught in an accident. The cops need Prabhu’s statement because Prabhu hired this private investigator, and the last call this investigator made was to Prabhu.

Swathi devises a plan. She gets rid of Prabhu’s body and has Umesh act as if he is Prabhu. Umesh may look like Prabhu, but he has one squinted eye.

To protect themselves, Swathi makes up a story of an acid attack on Prabhu, which will explain the eye.

Umesh accidentally ends up dropping too much acid on his face, resulting in his eye getting mutilated.

With cops involved, Swathi learns that someone was blackmailing Prabhu. She quickly figures out that it was Umesh, who was doing this for her. Cops, on the other hand, suspect that someone is targeting Prabhu.

A young and enthusiastic officer, Thupalli, is quick on his feet. He is careful about finding several clues and manages to find Swathi attempting to clear evidence against Umesh.

Before he can inform his senior, he accidentally falls off a cliff while confronting Swathi. Thupalli’s death wrecks his senior, Officer Hassan, encouraging him to take this case more seriously.

Officer Thupalli starts haunting Hassan, often appearing to guide him and leave him clues in riddles. The cops are suspecting Umesh to be behind the acid attack.

Umesh and Swathi come back home to celebrate. Their celebrations are cut short when someone starts blackmailing them about the money that Prabhu stole from Arvind.

Umesh and Swathi go to Prabhu’s accountant, Kirtima, who can be the blackmailer, only to find out from her that Prabhu’s company is on the verge of going bankrupt.

Swathi eventually figures out that the blackmailer is Arvind’s daughter, Apeksha, also known as Appu.

Appu has been wanting to go to France to attend a prestigious art school. Since her father won’t allow her, she is taking matters into her own hands.

She offers Swathi to join hands with her. An initially hesitant Swathi and Umesh soon join hands with Appu, but to blackmail Arvind.

Their ultimate plan fails, as they are caught by Arvind red-handed. Appu, who is fighting for her freedom, accidentally shoots Arvind, which lands him in the hospital.

With Arvind down, a new problem arrives in the form of Kirtima, who is in love with Prabhu. She was around their house and recorded their conversations about the money stolen from Arvind.

While this drama is taking place, Officer Hassan has made some significant progress in the investigation.

Hassan’s team has recovered Prabhu’s body. It will take weeks for reports to come around. Hassan believes this is Umesh’s body, as all of his belongings were found around it.

Hence, his next suspect is the woman in burkha who seems to have been with Umesh. That woman is none other than Swathi. Hassan and his team find out that Umesh and Swathi are former colleagues.

A beauty parlor owner on Old Bazaar Road, where Swathi used to attend a cooking class, also describes the lady in burkha that Hassan is looking for. The description matches that of Swathi.

Unfortunately, Hassan doesn’t have strong evidence against Swathi yet. Arvind doesn’t survive. Anyhow, he gets to bid his daughter a good farewell.

Ending explained:

Enter Kirtima

Arvind’s death brings Swathi and Appu’s uncle, Lucas, who was working for Arvind, together.

Lucas had collected evidence against Swathi and Umesh, but to protect Appu, for whom he has a soft corner, he decides to keep quiet.

Kirtima now has evidence against Swathi and Umesh. She first meets Umesh, thinking he is Prabhu.

Prabhu and Kirtima were having an affair. The unconditional love that Kirtima has for Prabhu makes Umesh emotional. The two end up sleeping with each other.

Kirtima meets Swathi in private and only demands that she divorce her husband if she doesn’t want her to go to the police.

Swathi’s luck is in her favor again, as Kirtima slips, falls from a height, and dies.

Officer Hassan finally collects strong evidence against Swathi in the form of the pictures of her and Umesh together, which are at Lucas’ place.

Lucas had put them in an envelope with some kind of liquid on them, resulting in them getting destroyed later.

While Hassan fails to catch Swathi again, Swathi manages to paint Kirtima as the lady in the burkha, using the letters that Umesh has sent her and asking her cooking teacher to pay the parlor owner to shut her mouth.

Swathi’s dream come true is a disaster

In his will, Arvind left his properties, cash, and business to his daughter, Appu, who decides to help Swathi make her dream come true.

Swathi finally starts working on opening the restaurant she has always dreamed of. Officer Hassan has come to realize that Umesh is lying and is following Swathi’s orders.

Umesh starts doubting Swathi’s love for him after learning about the death of Kirtima, who genuinely loved Prabhu.

Officer Hassan retires from service. On the very day Swathi is holding a party for her restaurant launch, Hassan is informed that the body they have discovered is not Umesh’s.

Furthermore, a shop owner confirms that the acid used on Umesh was bought by Swathi and a man with a squinted eye.

Hassan and his junior, Asha, crash Swathi’s party to arrest her. Umesh, on the other hand, dissatisfied with the relationship he now shares with Swathi, takes the stage.

Umesh and Swathi’s last chance

Umesh reveals who he really is and what he and Swathi have done on the stage because he misses the relationship they shared before this murderous stint began.

Swathi holds a gun in her hand while confessing that she didn’t kill anyone.

Prabhu was killed by Umesh in self-defense, Appu shot her father, and Thupalli and Kirtima died accidentally.

She talks about how much she has endured and suffered just to live the life she dreams of.

Umesh, who has drunk too much of her soup, vomits, grabbing everyone’s attention. He is taken to the hospital immediately by the cops.

After sending Umesh, Hassan comes to arrest Swathi, who jumps off the same cliff from where Thupalli fell.

However, Swathi hasn’t lost the will to live. As the water is not really that deep, she swims and finds her way to a bus station, where she finds Umesh on a bus.

Even Umesh escaped the cops. They have circled back to Umesh’s original plan, where he had pitched Swathi to run away with him to Madurai instead of staying.
