Plot summary:

Cosmo Imai learns that his sponsors want to replace him for the next fight because of his injuries. Meanwhile, Ohma gets a special Kure family treatment that helps him recover.

Cosmo defeats the person brought in to replace him and faces Ohma in the first quarterfinal.

Cosmo sticks to his strengths in grappling and keeps Ohma restrained for as long as he can but Ohma eventually breaks out and wins the tie with some hard-hitting offense.

In the next quarterfinal, Takeshi Wakatsuki faces Muteba Gizenga. Wakatsuki has one goal: to face the Fang of Metsudo and win.

Muteba is just in this for the money and gets some perks from his sponsor. They fit him with a cybernetic that helps him see again.

This gives him a momentary advantage over Wakatsuki, but he voluntarily retires when the tide turns because he doesn’t believe it is worth the risk to continue fighting.

To make it up to his sponsor, he gives her his business card and offers to do the next job on the house.

The third quarterfinal is between Rei Mikazuchi and Gensai Kuroki. Kuroki is the man who killed Rei’s father, but he isn’t out for revenge.

He is fighting for his sponsor, Kurayoshi Rino, and wants her love to power him to victory. Thanks to her sexual appeal, she can command any of her followers to do something without being held back by the limits in their brains.

However, Kuroki is far too skilled for Rei and he puts the young assassin away with relative ease.

Rei realizes that this was his failure because he fell in love and made a vow to stop killing in Rino’s name.

The final quarterfinal is between Sen Hatsumi and Agito Kanoh. Ohma steps into the arena and helps Hatsumi spar for a while before the match.

Kanoh also faces off against another to keep his place as the Fang of Metsudo and he wins. Hatsumi hangs in the fight with his brilliant techniques, but Kanoh is too strong.

Setsuna Kiryu is roaming the island killing people without prejudice thanks to his hallucinations that they are all Niko Tokita.

He runs into Kazuo and is about to kill him when Ohma steps in. Setsuna is still obsessed with Ohma and wants him to activate his Life Advance technique.

He believes that Niko turned him from a terrifying god into a regular human so his goal has been to bring out that god-like power.

Setsuna helps Ohma remember what happened around the time of Niko’s death. Ten years ago, another man calling himself Niko Tokita taught Setsuna the Niko style.

He says that they were taught the style by their master but Niko later went around and killed all the others who practiced that style.

He then says that he will lay the groundwork for Setsuna to bring out Life Advance and he clashes with Ohma.

Setsuna faces off against Ohma and is excited to be killed by him once the Life Advance is activated but Ohma’s mentor shows up.

He uses a technique called ‘Demon Slaughterer’ to subdue Ohma, but the other Niko arrives and fights and kills Ohma’s mentor.

Ohma uses the same technique on Setsuna in the present so that he doesn’t have hallucinations anymore and can move on in life.

The time for the semi-finals comes and Chairman Nogi says that he has reached an agreement with Furumi Pharma (Wakatsuki’s sponsors) to fix the fight.

He wants Ohma to withdraw but Kazuo refuses because he knows that Ohma’s goal is to win the tournament.

Ohma takes on Wakatsuki and is pushed back but his intense striking ability. He uses some of Niko style’s hidden techniques to gain a foothold.

One of those moves allows him to redirect his opponent’s attack force with double the impact and he uses that to defeat Wakatsuki.

Kuroki goes up against Kanoh and the fight is considered the most anticipated in the tournament because of the caliber of the two fighters.

Takakaze Kirimi of Motorhead Motors says that he didn’t plan on taking part in the tournament until his friend Kuroki approached him to be his sponsor.

He tells Katahara Metsudo that he dreamt that Kuroki would win, and most of his dreams come true.

The two are evenly matched and Kanoh shows off the true depths of his abilities, but Kuroki once again shows that his experience and knowledge are unmatched.

Metsudo tells Kanoh that he is glad that he doesn’t have to be the association chairman anymore because he wants to face new challenges.

He tells Kanoh to explore new challenges by himself and start a new journey in life. Before Kuroki and Ohma face off, Kuroki meets his opponent.

He tells him the history of the Niko style and how it came to be. Mukaku Gaoh aimed to unify The Inside and the way he fought eventually became Niko style.

When he couldn’t achieve his goal, he decided to pass on his knowledge to the children living in The Inside. He named all of them Niko Tokita so that a legend would be born.

Kuroki knows all this because Gaoh was friends with his master, and they compared notes to perfect the Niko style.

After the history lesson, they go on to fight each other in the final. Ohma decides to use Life Advance but keeps it within his control.

He is still no match for Kuroki and although he manages to strike some hefty blows, he loses the fight.

Ending explained:

Saying goodbye

Kirimi tells Nogi to take on the role of chairman because he is much more suited to bringing on change in the association.

Ohma is recovering with Hanfusa but the doctor tells Kazuo that Ohma got up and left. Kazuo rushes to find him.

Ohma sits down by a tree in front of a cliff and watches the sunset as he contemplates the intense ordeal he has gone through.

He feels at peace and breathes his last long before Kazuo finds him. Kazuo says goodbye to his friend with tears flowing down.

Catching up

Some of the fighters meet up to pay their respects at Ohma’s grave and discuss whether they kept in touch with any of the others.

Haruo went into wrestling training under Sekibayashi, while Kaolan announced that he would continue fighting.

Kanoh plans to explore the outside world and learn as much as he can about it. Adam is training under Cosmo’s mentor, while Lihito is training with Kuroki.

Kuroki still believes that he hasn’t reached his peak and is working to get there one day.

The future of Kengan

Kazuo leaves his job at Nogi Publications and gets a warm send-off from his colleagues. His boss, however, tries to bully him one final time but fails.

Kazuo has learned a lot over the past ten days and one of them is standing up for himself. He calmly thanks his boss and then gets a life from Ohya and Yoshitake.

He arrives at the new office of Yamashita Corporation where he is the CEO with Akiyama Kaede his secretary.

He wants to revolutionize the Kengan Association in Ohma’s memory.
