Keiko Miura: Monarch: Legacy of Monsters character explained

In Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Keiko Miura is the grandmother of Cate and Randa. She worked for Monarch. Mari Yamamoto plays Keiko.

Keiko Miura is a Japanese scientist who comes to the Philippines in 1952 to investigate airborne radioisotopes over the Philippine Sea. Keiko is a confident scientist who firmly believes in what evidence tells her to be true.

At that time, she used to surprise the likes of Lieutenant Leland Lafayette Shaw III, also known as Lee, who struggled to picture a woman as a scientist taking charge of a project. Keiko never entertained these arguments and focused on her investigation.

The folklore changes Keiko’s approach

Keiko’s approach to investigating these radioisotopes changes when she meets William ‘Billy’ Randa, an American Navy vet who is also a cryptozoologist, in the jungle while investigating these radioisotopes.

Billy tells Keiko to look at the local folklore as well, which is about a dragon that carves a path of fire across the sky; it might be carving a path of ionizing radiation.

Keiko, Billy, and Lee meet a MUTO

Keiko starts to understand that Billy’s story makes sense, and she lets him join her. When they find out that the path that folklore talks about matches with the radiation readings that Keiko has, they follow the map and not only find the missing USS Lawton ship but also see a MUTO, as in a Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism.

In the future

Keiko Miura continues to investigate MUTOs with Billy for years to come. They raise their child while keeping Monarch together.

Keiko’s son is Hiroshi, Cate and Kentaro’s father, but Billy is not Hiroshi’s biological father. He only volunteered to take care of him and raise him with Keiko.

Joining Keiko and Billy on their adventures is Lee, who is supposed to protect them and ensure their well-being.

Keiko and Billy’s investigation from around the world, even from Skull Island, is discovered by their grandchildren, Cate and Kentaro, in 2015, inside a hidden safe made in their father’s workplace.

Cate and Kentaro are only able to recognize Keiko from a picture in the files that they have. In the picture, Keiko is seen standing on the giant foot of a MUTO. Accessing Billy and Keiko’s files puts Cate and Kentaro under a man named Tim’s radar. Tim claims that he is from Monarch.
