Karla Dixon: Reacher season 2 character explained

Karla Dixon is a member of the 110th MP Special Investigations Unit who was recruited by Reacher for her specialty with numbers. Serinda Swan plays the character.

Initially, David O’Donnell dismissively refers to Karla as a “bean counter from accounting services” when the team assembles.

In response, Reacher emphasizes that he selected each member for their specialized skills.

Karla proves her worth early on by being the first to detect an anomaly: fuel discrepancies in planes returning from overseas missions.

This keen observation leads to the hypothesis that contraband might be transported on these flights.

In light of this breakthrough, Karla invites Reacher for a celebratory drink, but he declines, citing ongoing work commitments.

Later, when the team reconvenes in New York, Neagley queries Reacher about the apparent chemistry between him and Karla, wondering why a romantic relationship never materialized between them.

An expert in her field

Karla transitions to a career in forensic accounting for a corporate firm after her service in the army.

Her office maintains confidentiality about her whereabouts and the duration of her assignments.

Reacher and Neagley infer that she is on an undercover operation.

After incapacitating Guy Russo, they proceed to the airport parking lot, pondering over how to acquire another vehicle. There, they unexpectedly encounter Karla, returning from her assignment.

They update her on their findings, and she accompanies them to Atlantic City.

While relaxing with drinks in their suite, Karla reveals that her engagement ended due to a lack of excitement in the relationship.

Later, she adeptly counts cards at the casino and assists Reacher in confronting some hitmen.

In a reflective moment, she inquires why they never pursued a relationship.

Reacher explains the impropriety of such a liaison, given his former position as her superior.

However, their past barriers dissolve, leading to an intimate encounter that night, underpinned by her reminder that he is no longer her superior.

Karla shares her aspiration to establish a non-profit to audit large corporations, aiming to enhance their accountability for financial discrepancies.

Further, she deciphers the mysterious numbers from Calvin’s drive after discussing with Neagley, realizing they denote specific days and months, providing a vital clue for their investigation.
