Kabir Malik: Indian Police Force character explained

Kabir Malik is one of the main leads in Prime Video’s action drama series, Indian Police Force. Siddharth Malhotra plays the character in the show.

Kabir Malik is a DCP in Delhi Police and a maverick in his approach. He has a penchant for daring and frequently crosses his jurisdictional confines.

He has a loving mother in the name of his biological family, but his blood brother is Vikram Bakshy, his superior in the police and whose family treats Kabir as one of their own.

Family and love life

Kabir Malik is raised by a single mother who dotes over him and is his only immediate family. She supports and adores her son.

Kabir lost his father early on in life, but that’s not his only personal loss. His romantic love, his wife, Rashmi Malik, passed away after a long battle with Lupus.

After her, he’s never considered another relationship or marriage; in that decision, he shares a commonality with his superior Tara Shetty. He prefers being single, at least for the time being.

Harrowing setback

Kabir and his dear friend and superior, IPS Vikram Bakshy, have been working hard to track down the terrorist responsible for the Delhi serial blasts.

With the help of Tara Shetty and her crucial information, they track down the location where Indian Mujahideen commander Zarar and his men are hiding.

They carry out a covert and risky mission where an intense gunfire ensues and even though many terrorists are killed and one is arrested, Zarar manages to flee.

Before his escape, though, he also manages to shoot Vikram twice, which ultimately results in his death.

This deals a heavy blow to Kabir’s personal life, as well as professional life. He is promptly removed from the case because of the casualties.

A personal mission

Kabir Malik doesn’t relent, however, and when Zarar wreaks more havoc, this time in Jaipur with a series of bombings, Kabir heads off to the city to investigate.

He presents his months-long research and case study to the commissioner, who forwards it to the powers that be.

Consequently, Kabir is included in the Delhi Special Cell, a unit created to specifically go after Zarar, and stop his reign of terror.

Kabir works with Tara and together, they manage to prevent many casualties while also dealing heavy blows on Zarar’s associates, including his brother and father-in-law, who are killed in or due to encounters.

Zarar flees to Bangladesh but his pregnant wife Nafeesa decides to out him, choosing nation over a lying husband. Kabir Malik joins Tara, Rana, and Jagtap to arrest Zarar.

In doing so, he accomplishes his mission, but his grander objective is not over yet, as Zarar’s superiors are still at large and out of the law’s grasp.
