Jonas: The Conference character explained

In The Conference, Jonas is the project leader for the Kolarängen Shopping Center. Adam Lundgren plays Jonas.

Jonas, along with Ingela, leads the municipal employees working on constructing the Kolarängen Shopping Center. Jonas is a selfish snob who only cares about his own well-being.

He also brags a lot about what he is bringing to the table and hates when someone questions his decisions. He is also pretty good at manipulating others.

When he fails to lift up the mood of others, the likes of Ingela convince him that people are just jealous of his success.

What his employees don’t know is that Jonas is giving them false hope when it comes to this shopping center project, as he has a secret of his own that only ensures his future.

Jonas’ secret

Lina, the employee who has recently returned to work, notices that the compensation agreement for the farmer whose land they have taken for the shopping center is missing from the contract.

Lina’s signatures are present on the contract, but she is sure that this isn’t the contract that she signed. Later, when everyone is out in the wild for their team-building exercise, Lina comes back, breaks into Jonas’ room, and accesses his laptop.

Jonas: The Conference character explained 1
Jonas fears that Lina has started doubting her signatures

From the data on the laptop, she learns that her signature was forged and that Jonas is lying about the store chains that are coming to Kolarängen Shopping Center. When all of this becomes a mess, Jonas will already have a secure job for himself.

Jonas’ fate

Throughout the film, Jonas keeps doing his best to ensure his safety when a killer comes to hunt them down. He manages to steal the drive on which Lina has collected data against him and gets his hands on a bike that lets him escape the holiday village.

The bike doesn’t take him far as he falls into a river. In the end, he attacks Lina near the river. Their fight ends with Lina ripping Jonas’ scalp out, which was already gravely injured by the killer’s traps.
