Jin Hamashima: House of Ninjas character explained

Jin Hamashima is the head of the Bureau of Ninja Management in Netflix’s House of Ninjas. Tomorowo Taguchi plays the character in the show.

Jin Hamashima is a strong and frequent presence in House of Ninjas, appearing ever-so-often to lend a hand, but heads, or racks his brain about things related to the shinobi world.

Running BNM

There’s a new shinobi threat in town, and Hamashima has to turn to the only ones who can help him contend with the rising problems.

While he calls in his clean-up crew, the shinobi who do the more perilous work, are long-retired from the game. The Tawara family has not indulged in the ninja business for six years.

Hamashima needs them, though, and he goes to Soichi Tawara, the head of the shinobi family. He refuses him, violently so.

So Hamashima turns to his wife, Yoko, who frequently shoplifts to have some thrill in her life. Things have been boring for her and so she takes up on the mission.

Hamashima also locks in his target on Haru Tawara, the one who is thinking of starting something romantic with a civilian girl, something that’s not really allowed for a ninja like him.

He gets Haru to take up on the mission, especially since it also involves the girl he likes. He ends up contending with the prime villain down the line.

Convictions & allegiances

Jin Hamashima doesn’t scream authority with his build, but his candor does reflect it somehow. He is good at his job and keeps on top of all things shinobi.

He enforces the rules and guidelines that the shinobi must abide by, and he has no qualms or hesitations regarding killing a civilian if they find out about the existence of the shinobi.

As soon as he gets wind of it, he gets Karen Ito kidnapped. When Haru promises to never see her again and also do whatever he wants from him, Hamashima agrees to spare Karen’s life.

As House of Ninjas season 1 ends, Jin Hamashima’s allegiance is dubious at best, since the higher-ups he follows and abides by have changed.

His new superiors are the very people he, the BNM, and the Tawaras have been fighting all this while. Meanwhile, Haru has been indebted to him for all his life almost.

Should he choose to do so, Hamashima can alter, shape, and mold a lot of events going forward.
