Imogene Scott is one of the protagonists of Death and Other Details. Violett Beane plays the character, while Sophia Reid-Gantzert plays the younger version of Imogene.
Imogene first met Rufus Cotesworth when she was a kid. Imogene’s mother was the secretary of Lawrence Collier and was killed in a car bombing.
Rufus Cotesworth had picked up her case, and Imogene was the only eyewitness to her mother’s death.
Despite being a kid, Imogene showed skills as a future detective, leaving Rufus surprised. After her mother’s death, the Colliers took Imogene in and raised her.
Imogene’s ability to notice the minor details has a downside of its own. She was into stealing, a habit her mother didn’t appreciate.
However, Imogene never gets over that habit, as in the show, Rufus mentions that she has been skimming from the family firm.
Anyhow, when a murder takes place on the cruise on which the Colliers are celebrating Lawrence’s retirement, Rufus requires the help of Imogene to crack the case.
The only suspect
Keith Trubitsky, one of the guests, gets on everyone’s nerves, including Imogene, who decides to hurt his ego.
She breaks into Trubitsky’s room, damages his watch, and leaves with some cash. However, the next day, when Trubitsky is found dead, she finds herself in danger of becoming the prime suspect.
By spending a night with the head of security at the cruise, Imogene had managed to get the passcode to the security room.

She rushes to the room to delete her footage, only to find it missing. Rufus Cotesworth reveals himself to be the person who made that move.
The footage paints Imogene as the only suspect. However, Rufus doesn’t arrest Imogene immediately because he knows there is a far bigger conspiracy taking place here.
Trubitsky was, in fact, Rufus’ assistant, Danny. They had reopened the investigation into Imogene’s mother’s case. Danny may have gotten close to something, which resulted in his murder.
There is also some minor evidence suggesting that Danny was killed once Imogene left the room. Hence, instead of arresting Imogene, Rufus asks her to work with him.
Imogene’s hatred for Rufus
Imogene is reluctant to join hands with Rufus because she hates him a lot. This hatred stems from the fact that Rufus didn’t solve her mother’s murder.
When Imogene was a kid, Rufus promised her that he would find her mother’s killer and bring them to justice.
Imogene likes to think Rufus walked away from the case when Colliers stopped paying him.
The truth is, he hasn’t. Colliers stopped cooperating when Rufus got to the name Viktor Sams.
Years later, Danny, Rufus’ assistant, finds out that Lawrence Collier could be handing over the reins to his daughter, Anna.
Furthermore, they are bringing in outside investors, for which they will have to open the books and expose their corporate secrets.
This way, Rufus will be able to find out Colliers’ connection to Viktor Sams. Hence, Rufus gets back in the game to keep the promise made to Imogene.
Upon learning the truth, Imogene cooperates with Rufus to find her mother’s murderer.
