In the latest episode of Doctor Cha, Oh Deok-Rye finally gets to learn about her daughter’s husband’s dirty secret that has affected many lives.
Oh Deok-Rye cares for her daughter a lot, probably more than anyone seems to care for Jeong-Suk. She’s always on her case for not taking proper care of herself.
She also detests her in-laws after their pathetic display of apathy during Jeong-Suk’s direst moments.
That’s why Oh Deok-Rye is always wary and suspicious of the kind gestures that Kwak Ae-Sim and In-Ho start extending, sniffing obvious smoke of lying and concealment therein.
The signs leading up to it
Ever since Jeong-Suk’s mother-in-law and children learn about In-Ho’s extramarital affair and secret love child, Kwak Ae-Sim begins acting too amicable towards Oh Deok-Rye.
She takes her to dinner and brings her stuff, which comes as quite a shock to Deok-Rye who has never been given any gift from the other woman thus far in her life. This sudden turn of character is subversive, to say the least.
Ae-Sim tries to fake her guilt-fueled gestures as kind ones she wishes to pay back for Deok-Rye’s kindness. However, Deok-Rye knows something is definitely up. Later, when Jeong-Suk tells In-Ho she wants a divorce, he begins trying too hard to win her back.
His efforts include goofy and annoying antics and romantic drivel to win her back. He also starts attempting to impress her mother when she gets admitted to the hospital. Later, the family has dinner at the restaurant, and he continues his antics, which Deok-Rye does find amusing.
The dramatic reveal
However, his efforts are all in vain because of what transpires shortly. When he is done littering the booked room with notes from his money gun, everyone works to pick them back.
Meanwhile, Ae-Sim sneaks out for a moment, walking a few paces before encountering none other than Professor Park, the man he’s been dating for a while, sitting across from another woman, having a great time.
She approaches him and greets him, before asking him how he’s there when he’s supposed to be somewhere else, and also who the woman sitting opposite him is.
Moments later, the family inside the room hear Ae-Sim’s scream. They run outside to see that she’s being dragged with her hair by another woman, the same one sitting across from Professor Park a while ago. The woman is also shouting at Ae-Sim, calling her a tramp trying to seduce her man.
While Ae-Sim tries to deny it and says it must be a misunderstanding, the family arrives and In-Ho tries to free his mother. That’s when the woman recognizes In-Ho and points out how both the mother and the son are cheaters, talking about how he has an affair and a secret love child.
Oh Deok-Rye hears it and finally manages to separate the woman from Ae-Sim. She asks the woman again to clarify regarding what she just said about the affair and the child, and the woman does so, telling her that In-Ho had an affair with his first love and has a daughter with her.
Oh Deok-Rye looks around at In-Ho’s face, which carries shame and admittance, and then at Jeong-Suk, who has hands on her face from the shock and eyes that carry pain. This confirms that what Deok-Rye just heard is all correct.
