In Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Hiroshi is Cate and Kentaro’s father, who had been working on MUTOs before his death.
In 2015, Cate arrives in Tokyo, Japan, to settle Hiroshi’s affairs there, only to find out that her father has been living a double life. Hiroshi is married to another woman and has a son named Kentaro with her.
Much like how he spent time with Cate and her mother, Hiroshi has spent time with Kentaro and his mother too. Cate already hated her father for being a workaholic and not being there for them. The fact that he was cheating on her mother makes her resent her father more.
Hiroshi’s work
It’s Hiroshi who gets his hands on Billy Randa’s files, which Randa threw in the ocean while protecting himself from a MUTO on Skull Island. Kentaro believes his father made software for satellites. However, Cate dismisses it to be a lie.
The two discover Billy Randa’s bag locked inside a safe in Hiroshi’s workplace, which suggests that Hiroshi had been following those files. The bag has Monarch’s logo on it, but Cate isn’t sure if Hiroshi was working for them.
These same files later land Cate and Kentaro in trouble. They are chased by people who claim to be from Monarch.
Is Hiroshi dead?
Cate says she last saw Hiroshi five days after G-Day, the day Godzilla appeared. After ensuring that his family is fine and handing Cate passes to leave the zone with her mother, he decided to leave right away without even meeting his wife.
Despite Cate insisting him to stay, Hiroshi left. About a week after that, the state police in Fairbanks, Alaska, informed Cate and her mother that the bush plane Hiroshi was on disappeared into a storm. The wreckage was never found.
Later in the series, with the help of Lee, Cate and Kentaro find Hiroshi, who is alive and well.
When Kentaro finally gets to talk to him, Hiroshi reveals that he has been traveling to Monarch outposts to prove that a network exists through which Titans travel and that there is a world inside Earth.
In the finale, Hiroshi, Tim, and Kentaro join hands with Apex to bring Cate, May, and Lee, who have fallen into the Hollow Earth, back to Earth.
